Lapp Electric was founded in 1969 by Manny and Flossie Lapp. Over the years, the industry evolved and so did Lapp. In 2002, Manny and Flossie's sons, Greg and Tim took over the business and still run it today. ❗️QUICK TIP❗️
Before hanging up those spooky lights and decorations, check all cords for fraying, exposed wires, or other damage. Make sure outdoor decorations are specifically rated for outdoor use, and keep electrical connections protected from rain and moisture. Avoid overloading outlets with too many decorations, and use GFCI-protected outlets when plugging in outdoor displays.

We’re about four weeks away from completing our warehouse renovation at Lapp Electric…and this project has reminded me of something I’ve learned over the years in business:

Effective communication can make or break a project.

With contractors, employees, schedules, decisions and plenty of moving parts, communication is critical.

But effective communication doesn’t start with talking.
It starts with listening.

A big thank you to Heck Construction, our General Contractor, and everyone involved in helping bring this project together. 👏🏼

This ties perfectly into the Dale Carnegie principle Geoff and I are sharing this week:

“Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.”

Whether you’re leading a project, talking with a customer or sitting across the table from someone you love…
people want to know they’ve been heard.

🎯 One challenge this week:
Put the phone away and listen all the way to the end before you respond.
Don’t listen to reply.
Listen to understand.
