Community Heritage Partners, uses architecture, town planning, urban design, historic preservation, and real estate development strategies to develop innovative design solutions and find new active uses for under-utilized properties and older buildings. Our plans and solutions guide our clients to their best options for property improvements, renovations, and new construction. When these older pro

perties or structures are re-used with design forethought, they can better generate new revenues, provide reasonable returns on investments, grow the local tax base, and strengthen property values. We are enabling them to play a vital new role in continuously improving local quality of life. An ever-improving and appreciating building stock is KEY to community success, because it adds safety, comfort, energy efficiency, livability, and economic sustainability, as well as more life and new investment. Without these, cities, towns, and villages are always at risk of backsliding. We also work at the larger scale of districts, neighborhoods, and communities, to recommend improvements in community and economic development policy and procedures that will encourage and support individual property improvements.

Another of Lancaster's historic buildings that our organization SAVED and PROTECTED from neglect and likely future demoltition.

In the early 1980s, the City and Chamber of Commerce hatched a plan to close the city-owned and operated Southern Farmers Market, which had served mostly the SE, SW and central parts of the city population for nearly a century. It was also one of the earliest major projects of now-renowned Lancaster architect C. Emlen Urban, who designed the building at age 26.

Despite those plans, we documented the building's history and architectural significance, and commissioned and paid for the writing and filing of the National Register Nomination. Putting the building on the National Register helped limit what might be done to the building by any current or future owner using any public or federal funds.
