The first month of this new year was a good one!
I did plumbing bids for 5 projects totaling $2,106,620 of Plumbing work!
I have 3 new bids on my schedule to do the first 2 weeks of February

Starting off the New Year with a plumbing estimate for a 4 story Hotel and a Pool Bathhouse for a city pool
Lots of work coming in
pricing is still competitive and it's very important to have current updated material pricing
With a computerized estimating system such as Auto-bid mechanical and Trade Service pricing I get material costs updates as soon as manufacturers change their list pricing.
I can update costs on any previously bid projects before accepting a bid award.

If you are estimating with pen and paper or using unit costs how are you keeping up with price updates?
A computerized system such as I use; Trimble Autobid mechanical with Trade Service price updates is the only way to produce accurate bids.
Suppose one of your GC's call you on a bid you gave them 2 months ago and wants to award you the contract and start the job.
Do you get all excited and take the job?
With a couple minutes of re-summarizing any estimate I did in the past I can bring it up to current costs! Fixtures and equipment quotes would also need to be updated from your vendors.
If you are not capable of getting and using a computer estimating program, you can also take advantage of my estimating service!

Multiple large monitors are a must for doing on screen take offs of large projects. This is a lifetime fitness center bid I am working on. I am taking off the underground piping on the right screen. on the left screen Ihave it split so I could see the waste & vents on the floor above ground and also look at the sanitary riser diagram on the right side
I have two smaller monitors off to the right for reading email and writing word documents

Well 2025 got off to a great start estimating new work!
I just completed a plumbing estimate for a 4 story 137 unit Assisted living Senior home in New Jersey. over 66,000 feet of pipe in this building!
Also some bids in Nebraska and here in Charlotte.
And getting ready to start a large estimate in Massachusetts
