Why We Speak Up…..
At O'Neal Shiers Aquatics, we've been building swimming pools since the early 1990s.
Over the decades, we've seen incredible craftsmanship by many great contractors, but we've also seen corners cut, safety procedures ignored, installation standards overlooked, and unfortunately, we've witnessed the consequences when pools fail.
Yes, we are a proven custom gunite contractor, but as we expand into the fiberglass pool market, our mission is simple:
Educate homeowners. Promote proper installation practices. Raise the standard for everyone.
This isn't about criticizing competitors. It's about protecting consumers and ensuring fiberglass pools are installed according to manufacturer recommendations and proven construction methods.
What Homeowners Should Understand:
A fiberglass pool is not just a product.
It's a structural system that depends on proper transportation, handling, installation, backfilling, plumbing, and site preparation.
The quality of the installation is every bit as important as the quality of the pool itself.
When comparing proposals, homeowners should ask:
✅ What equipment will be used to set the pool shell?
✅ Will manufacturer-recommended lifting procedures be followed?
✅ How will the shell be protected during handling and placement?
✅ What materials will be used for the pool base and backfill?
✅ What installation practices are required to maintain warranty coverage?
✅ What experience does the installer have with fiberglass pool construction?
Not All Installations Are Equal
We believe all builders should compete on a level playing field.
However, that playing field should be built on professionalism, safety, proper equipment, and adherence to manufacturer standards.
Lower bids should never be achieved by sacrificing installation quality, ignoring best practices, or taking unnecessary risks with a homeowner's investment.
Our Commitment:
At O'Neal Shiers Aquatics, we follow established installation procedures because they exist for a reason:
We use the proper equipment.
We prioritize safety.
We protect the integrity of the pool shell.
We work to preserve manufacturer warranty requirements.
And most importantly, we treat every project as if it were going into our own backyard.
Before You Buy
Do your research.
Ask the right questions.
Request explanations of installation procedures.
Understand how your pool will be handled from delivery through completion.
Because your warranty, your investment, and the safety of your family may depend on those answers.
