Cedar transparent oil stain on floor and black oil based on railings. Deck was previously unstained after being installed last year.
On newer wood, we often recommend starting with a lighter, more transparent stain. It protects the wood while keeping your future options open, making it much easier to go darker down the road if you decide you’d like a semi-transparent or richer color later on.
