These historic doors have some DEEP cracks, and I needed the wood glue down in them—not sitting on top.

So… tiny damp Zibra brush + slightly thinned wood glue + aggressively brushing it into the abyss.

Is this an official technique? No idea.
Did I possibly invent it? Let’s hope so.
Did it get the glue where I needed it? YEP.

Historic restoration: sometimes you follow the rules. Sometimes you make up a tiny-glue-brush technique and hope nobody on Instagram has strong feelings about it. 💀

Some people see old, warped doors and a whole lot of problems. Apparently I see a good time. 😂

This 1920 Lakeland home is just a few blocks from Lake Morton, and tucked inside is this incredible pantry that was added sometime later in the home’s history.

And she has STORIES.

Giant doors. Warped wood. Cracks that go all the way through. Doors that haven’t wanted to stay closed in who-knows-how-long. Layers of old paint and enough brush marks to make a cabinet refinisher twitch.

Basically… everything required to keep me on my toes. 😏

Follow along — these old girls have a few more stories left in them. 🖤

Black Primer. That’s it. That’s the post. 🖤

Good prep + good products + a little time behind the spray gun. 😏

Apparently bigger cabinet jobs come with bigger demands.

Longer spray days meant my little window exhaust setup just wasn’t moving enough air—and sitting right beside my AC definitely wasn’t helping.

So we did the reasonable thing…

Tore apart the setup we built three months ago. 💀😂

Stronger ventilation is now built directly into the new spray booth walls.

More airflow. More usable space. A better setup for spraying those factory-smooth cabinet finishes.

Spray Booth 2.0 is officially open for business.

Now bring me some cabinet doors. 😏

When your clients start preaching too. 😏🔥Grateful is an understatement. ❤️

I was there to paint the cabinets. The wall was none of my business. I cannot stress this enough. 😂

But here’s the problem with transforming a kitchen: once everything starts looking crisp and beautiful, the tiny things suddenly become VERY loud.

And once I saw that ceiling line above my freshly refinished cabinets?

I could not unsee it.

Was fixing it in my scope of work? Nope.

Did it require me to climb entirely too high on a ladder and stretch every bit of my 5’2” body toward the ceiling? Yep💀

Because sometimes the difference between “finished” and “finished beautifully” is a detail most people would have walked right past.

Apparently I am not most people.

And now the cabinets are gorgeous, the line is crisp, and my brain can know peace. 😂

Details matter. Especially when they’re sitting directly above your Dream kitchen. ✨

Fresh drywall has a funny way of showing you everything once the prep and priming process begins. 👀

Changes in texture, joint compound and sanding can all behave differently under primer—which is exactly why new drywall needs the right prep and primer before the finish paint ever touches it.

So before these ridiculously tall closet walls got their finish coat, they needed to be properly primed—because the final paint job is only as good as the surface underneath it.

Was climbing this ladder approximately 847 times part of my original plan?

No.

But just LOOK at that wave pattern. 💀
