September in Florida can bring heavy rain, storms, falling leaves and organic debris into swimming pools. Even when the water still looks clear, all that extra debris can affect chlorine demand and water chemistry.

A good September reminder for homeowners:

Keep skimmer and pump baskets emptied
Remove leaves and debris before they settle on the pool floor
Check water chemistry after periods of heavy rain
Watch the water level after storms
Don't assume clear water means properly balanced water
