A custom home should be built for more than move-in day. It should be built for generations.

At Old Florida Construction & Remodeling, we believe there’s a right way to build a home—and it starts with caring about the things you may never see once the drywall goes up.

The structure. The roof. The waterproofing. The flashing. The materials. The small details that determine whether a house simply looks good when it’s new, or is still standing strong decades from now.

We’re not interested in building homes around the cheapest way to get to closing. We believe in using proven materials, sound building practices, and craftsmanship appropriate for the Florida climate.

A truly custom home should also reflect the people who will live there. From the floor plan and architecture to the materials and finishes, we work with our clients to build something that feels like their home—not another copy of whatever happens to be trending this year.

Trends come and go. Good craftsmanship doesn’t.

Our goal is simple: when we hand a family the keys, we want to know we built a home worthy of being handed down someday.

When the economy feels uncertain, making the right decision matters more than ever.

We've noticed that more homeowners are taking their time before starting a remodeling project—and that's completely understandable.

A home improvement project is a significant investment, and our goal has never been to pressure anyone into spending more than they need to.

Sometimes the right answer is a simple repair.

Sometimes it's a remodel.

Sometimes it's actually more cost-effective to rebuild than renovate.

Our job is to help you understand your options, explain the pros and cons of each, and provide the information you need to make the decision that's right for your family and your budget.

Whether your project is large or small, we believe in honest advice, detailed planning, and quality craftsmanship that stands the test of time.

If you're thinking about remodeling, adding onto your home, replacing siding, or building new—but aren't sure where to start—we'd be happy to sit down, discuss your goals, and help you evaluate your options.

No pressure. Just honest guidance and quality construction.

Swipe through to see the transformation! These photos show the bathroom both before and after the remodel.

Every home tells a story—and this one has over 100 years of history.

We recently completed this bathroom remodel in a beautiful century-old home. While the color palette may not be everyone's first choice, that's exactly what makes custom remodeling so rewarding. Our job isn't to build what we would choose—it's to bring our customers' vision to life with quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Remodeling a home that's stood for a century comes with its own unique set of challenges. Working within an existing structure takes careful planning, experience, and an eye for detail to create a finished space that feels like it belongs while reflecting the homeowner's personal style.

We're proud to have delivered a bathroom that turned out exactly as the owner envisioned, and we're grateful they trusted Old Florida Construction & Remodeling with their home.

If you're considering a bathroom remodel—or any renovation to an older home—we'd love to help bring your ideas to life.

Every addition tells a story.

The best ones don't announce themselves—they simply look like they've always belonged.

We're proud to wrap up this custom garage addition exactly as the homeowner envisioned. From the very beginning, the goal wasn't just to add square footage. It was to create a space that looked and felt like it was part of the original home.

By carefully designing and conventionally framing a new roof system that ties seamlessly into the existing structure, we've reached the point where it's difficult to tell where the original home ends and the addition begins. That's exactly the result we were after.

That level of attention to detail has become our calling card.

We believe additions should complement a home's architecture, not compete with it. Matching rooflines, thoughtful framing, proper weatherproofing, and quality craftsmanship all work together to create an addition that looks like it was always meant to be there.

If you're considering adding space to your home, don't settle for something that looks "added on."

Build it right.
Build it to last.
Build it like it was always there.

Sometimes the best projects are the ones you build for yourself.

One of my favorite additions to our home has been this outdoor shower. At first glance, it might seem like a luxury, but it has become one of the most practical features we use.

After working outside all day, spending time in the yard, or coming home from training, being able to rinse off before heading inside keeps the house cleaner and makes everyday life just a little easier.

When I built it, I approached it the same way I approach projects for my clients—I built it to last. Nearly every visible component is made from premium exotic hardwoods, including **teak, tigerwood, and Ipe**, paired with **marine-grade stainless steel hardware** to stand up to Florida's heat, humidity, and weather. With proper maintenance, there's every reason this shower should still be serving my family 30 years from now.

The best home improvements aren't always the biggest ones. Sometimes they're the thoughtful upgrades that make your home work better every single day.

Whether it's an outdoor living space, replacement windows, a custom addition, an accessible bathroom, or a complete home renovation, our goal is always the same:

**Build it right the first time. Build it to last.**

What's one feature you've added to your home that you now can't imagine living without?

Today marks the true completion of this custom home project.

The old trailer that once occupied this property has been demolished and removed, making way for the next chapter of this homeowner's life.

For years, that trailer served its purpose. But it had reached the end of its useful life, and it was time for something better.

Now, instead of looking out the window at a structure that was slowly falling apart, the homeowner gets to enjoy a home built specifically for their needs, their future, and their comfort.

This project was about more than construction. It was about creating a place where someone can feel proud of where they live, enjoy their property, and embrace a new season of life.

The trailer is gone.
The new home is complete.
And the future looks a whole lot brighter.

Most people think accessibility means making a home look like a medical facility.

We disagree.

This custom cottage was designed around comfort, functionality, and long-term accessibility without sacrificing the character and warmth that make a house feel like home.

Features like single-level living, thoughtful layouts, wider circulation paths, low-maintenance finishes, and easy access throughout the home help create a space that can adapt to changing needs over time.

The best aging-in-place design isn't obvious when you walk through the door. It simply feels comfortable, practical, and welcoming.

Whether you're planning for retirement, helping a family member remain independent, or simply building a home that works better for every stage of life, thoughtful design today can make a tremendous difference tomorrow.

Built for comfort.
Built for independence.
Built to last.

Big progress on this custom garage addition this week.

The structure is now fully framed, sheathed, and dried in with premium peel-and-stick underlayment, giving this home another layer of long-term weather protection before the new metal roof goes on next week.

One detail we’re especially proud of — once the roof underlayment was installed, you can no longer distinguish where the original roof ends and the new roof framing begins. That seamless transition was the goal from day one. The addition now reads like it was always meant to be part of the home, not something added on later.

We’re also incorporating the ZIP System rainscreen assembly into the exterior wall system — a detail that helps promote drainage and airflow behind the siding to dramatically reduce the potential for trapped moisture and long-term rot issues. It’s one of those upgrades most people never see, but it makes a huge difference in the longevity of the structure.

Next up:
✔ New metal roofing
✔ Electrical rough-in
✔ Continuing exterior weatherproofing

As always, our goal is to build additions that feel original to the home — not like an afterthought added years later.

Built for strength. Built for longevity. Built the right way.

Custom garage addition update.

Roof framing is officially complete on this one, and this is where a project really starts to show its character.

There’s something timeless about a conventionally framed roof. Clean lines, proper geometry, and the kind of craftsmanship that simply looks right when it’s done correctly.

This addition increased the building’s footprint by roughly 50%, but the goal was never for it to *look* like an addition. A lot of care went into getting every ridge, plane, and transition just right so that when it’s finished, it feels like it was always part of the original structure.

Behind the scenes, we’re also using premium ZIP System sheathing for an added layer of long-term protection against water intrusion—because what’s underneath matters just as much as the finished product.

And because details matter beyond just construction—it’s Friday, and the jobsite has been thoroughly cleaned so these homeowners can enjoy their Memorial Day weekend without a construction mess to look at.

Good craftsmanship shows in the big things and the small things.

Another custom garage addition underway.

One thing we’ve always believed: an addition shouldn’t look like an afterthought.

Our goal is to build additions in a way that makes them feel like they’ve been part of the home since day one—matching proportions, tying into the existing structure correctly, and building with long-term durability in mind.

This project is being conventionally framed for strength, performance, and longevity—because how it’s built matters just as much as how it looks.

A garage addition should add functionality and value without looking like something was just tacked onto the side of the house.

That attention to detail is part of what sets our work apart, projects like these take a higher level of skill.

**Additions don’t mean afterthoughts.**
