The Moda Center at the Rose Quarter plays a major role in Portland’s economy, attracting more than 1.5 million visitors each year, hosting 150 events, and generating an estimated $600 million in local economic activity while supporting thousands of jobs.

As the City of Portland looks at potential renovations, there are opportunities to be part of the conversation. This weekend, the City is hosting pop‑up events in local parks where community members can share feedback in person, and a short online survey is also available.

With nearly 30 years since the last major update, this is a chance to help shape what comes next for one of Portland’s most heavily used venues and the surrounding neighborhood.

Tonight at the Daily Journal of Commerce Top Projects event, we’re recognizing the Union Gospel Mission of Portland Center for Women and Children – a project grounded in care, dignity, and long‑term support for the community it serves.

Friday, May 29 marked the beginning of a long‑awaited next chapter for Jefferson High School.

After years of planning, design, and community engagement, the Jefferson Modernization project officially broke ground. This milestone reflects patience, persistence, and deep care for a school that has long mattered to its community.

We’re honored to deliver this work as part of the Colas Hoffman joint venture, in partnership with Colas Construction and in close collaboration with Portland Public Schools. The project is rooted in honoring Jefferson’s legacy while creating a modern, welcoming learning environment that will serve students, educators, families, and alumni for generations to come.

Jefferson High School has always been more than a building. Being entrusted with its transformation carries responsibility, and we approach the work ahead with humility, care, and respect for what Jefferson represents.

An inside look at Intel's Arizona Fab 52, recently recognized by Engineering News-Record as Project of the Year.

Hoffman served as the general contractor on this $5B‑plus fabrication facility, delivered through close collaboration with Intel and our partners, including Jacobs Solutions Inc. The project reflects the scale, coordination, and safety focus required to deliver advanced manufacturing facilities of this complexity.

Hoffman has been selected by Sound Transit to help deliver a new 70‑acre light rail storage and maintenance facility in Washington, supporting the future Tacoma Dome Link Extension and long‑term transit operations.

Working alongside Arup, this project will be delivered through Sound Transit’s first progressive design‑build approach and will include final design, site preparation, roadway improvements, long‑lead material procurement, and early construction support.

Once complete, the Operations and Maintenance Facility South will play a critical role in supporting expanded light rail service and strengthening regional transit resilience.

The Sound Transit Board has approved a $350m progressive design-build contract for a 70-acre hub for light rail fleet storage and repair. Hoffman Construction Company will deliver the facility alongside lead designer Arup and owner Sound Transit.

Last week, construction leaders came together for the 2026 Puget Sound Hard Hats with Heart Celebration to improve heart health and save lives.

The impact was meaningful. More than $717,000 was raised to support heart health education and research. And over the past year more than 4,300 craft professionals received Hands‑Only CPR training and many companies implemented cardiac emergency response plans on their jobsites.

Hoffman supported the event as the presenting sponsor, reinforcing our commitment to safety for the people who build our industry every day. Preparing workplaces to respond quickly and effectively during cardiac emergencies is one way we help save lives.

This year’s event benefited from strong industry leadership, including Hoffman’s Director of Business Development, Marjorie Chang, who served as Event Chair. We appreciate the time, dedication, and coordination it takes to bring an effort of this scale together.
