Minimal, clean and modern! When working within the confines of a small footprint, we’re very intentional and thoughtful about storage and the way our clients live and use their space. In this modern master bathroom remodel, we were able to provide ample storage, and even still squeeze in a makeup vanity area, something our client had on her wish list.

Ever wondered what it is about kitchens that set the tone for the entire house? They have the ability to not only provide a meal, but a complete experience, and act as the epicenter of our home. Our clients Hollywood glam inspired design has the prettiest combination of teal kitchen cabinets with kerfed satin brass detail. Contrasting materials provide depth and emphasize the character of the room, which is important when you have such a gorgeous view to compete with!

Lake house requires lake views. Previous layout was dark, cramped and dated. We went for an open, light and bright, casual California vibe. The timing of this project couldn’t have been better as we moved them back in just before the world turned upside down and our homes, our sanctuaries, took a whole new meaning.

Homeward bound feels oh so good. was very different in the year of covid. Filled with unexpected twists and turns - 2:30 am bedbugs 😳 memorable uber adventures, airline induced tears and a very humorous stop,drop, roll moment - crashing wall and TV involved😂. Feet hurt from the miles logged but found some incredible pieces that we can’t wait to share.

Our Story

We are husband and wife. We are parents to three spirited boys. We are passionate about what we do.

We started Vanillawood to pursue what we love doing - creating, designing, building and furnishing spaces that speak to you. Our aesthetic has been indelibly informed by our time living in Italy, New York, Los Angeles and now Portland.

In 2006 we opened our doors. Today we are a full-service design/build and interior design firm that houses a brick-and-mortar storefront and a team of designers working in a bustling design studio just outside of Portland. Who says you can't bring urban to the 'burbs?

Dynamic duo. With the origin of their love story in Florence, Italy, this husband and wife teamed up for the first time to design their forever home in Portland, OR and Fantini North America won their hearts. The Mint Collection Silvana Angeletti and Daniele Ruzza provided the perfect amount of elegance to balance the dramatic marble tile backdrop in the master bath.

Even on gray days, this principle bathroom in Lake Oswego enjoys lots of natural light and lake views, thanks to a gutsy remodel by Vanillawood. “We do have a pretty long winter here,” designer Kricken Yaker said. “So that’s often the main target of what we’re trying to do—create lightness and brightness.”
