Currently on the boards at Pippin Home Designs: a New England shingle-style home coming to Lake Norman.

Designed to feel timeless rather than trendy, this home takes cues from classic coastal architecture with layered rooflines, generous porches, detailed shingle work and a strong connection to the water.

We’re still in the design phase, working through the details that will shape how the home lives just as much as how it looks—from the approach and exterior proportions to the way the interior spaces capture the lake views.

Our out-of-state clients wanted Colorado modern, reimagined for Lake Norman—and that’s exactly what they got!

This expansive great room was designed to make the most of the home’s scale and bring in lots of natural light, with soaring ceilings, open sightlines, and a layout that keeps the lake connected to the main living spaces.

The result is dramatic without feeling cold, and expansive without losing the sense of comfort that makes a great room truly livable.

🏆 Award Project Highlight: Sparkling Waters

Meet Sparkling Waters, an ARDA Award-winning custom home currently taking shape on the shores of Lake Norman!

Designed to make the most of its waterfront setting, this home is centered around the lake—creating a strong connection between the interiors, outdoor living spaces, and the views beyond.

Inside, spaces for both entertaining and everyday living include a golf simulator, arcade, safe room, and an indoor/outdoor bar that extends the experience toward the lake. Outdoors, two levels of covered porches create multiple places to take in the views, along with a summer kitchen on the grill deck, outdoor dining, sun deck, lounge, and outdoor fireplace.

A pool with a tanning shelf and hot tub completes the waterfront setting, creating a true resort-style experience at home.

As construction continues, the vision is beginning to come to life through generous natural light, carefully considered sight lines, and spaces designed to take full advantage of what makes life on Lake Norman so special.

A home designed around its setting, its views, and most importantly, the way our clients want to live.

🏆 Award Project Highlight: Barefoot Villa

Meet Barefoot Villa, recipient of the Grand ARDA Award—the highest honor in the Custom Home category.

Designed as a contemporary lakefront retreat, this home was shaped around the views, outdoor living, wellness, and the feeling of having a private resort at home.

Expansive natural daylight, carefully framed lake views, and spaces oriented toward the sunset make the most of its waterfront setting. Outside, a vaulted covered porch, summer kitchen, firepit and fire bowls, swim-up bar, and pool with a tanning shelf create a true resort-style experience. A separate pool house adds even more personality with an aviator’s custom bar and built-in wine preservation system.

Wellness was considered throughout the home as well, from abundant natural light and a dedicated home gym to enhanced air filtration designed to support cleaner indoor air quality.

A home designed not only for the way our clients wanted to live, but for the way they wanted to feel at home.

Last week we got to visit one of our projects that’s wrapping up on Lake Norman!

Colorado-modern inspired, this couple pulled off their entire design and build remotely, with just a handful visits during the process! The result is absolutely stunning, we had a blast with this one!

Big shout out to for carrying out the build beautifully. Great work all around!
