🥶 We will have Igloo Hardy Mums!
Igloo mums are bred for extra cold hardiness (Zone 4). They are part of a series selected to survive colder winters than many traditional florist-type mums.
But here’s the important part:
“Hardy” doesn’t mean guaranteed survival. Winter survival depends on your climate, drainage, snow cover, planting time, and how well the plant establishes its roots before the ground freezes.
For the best chance of overwintering an Igloo mum:
🌱 Plant it in the ground, rather than leaving it in a pot.
🍂 Wait until after flowering to cut it back heavily—leaving some stems through winter can provide protection.
❄️ Add a layer of mulch after the ground begins to freeze.
💧 Make sure the planting area drains well.
