With the cold temperatures and wind chills coming up this week here are a few tips.
- If you have a well pit or a pump house, make sure they are sealed up tight and your heat is working.
- If you have a trailer home or a prefab with no basement, make sure your heat cables are working.
- If you have livestock in a confinement, make sure to leave your water running into a pit.
Also, just to be on the safe side, leave water trickling about the size of a pencil in all rural homes, acreages and livestock buildings with a place to drain. If the water is moving it’s a lot harder for it to freeze.

Tonight at the Lake Mills home football game, LM Pump Service will be donating $50 for every touchdown scored by either team to fallen Algona Police Officer Kevin Cram’s family.

Although we can’t take credit for the idea as it was thought of by another business in a different community, we encourage other businesses to join us.

If you live in a house that has a well in a pit or a pump house make sure you have a heat lamp or a heater. And with it getting this cold tonight it’s always a good idea to let your water run a little bit in a sink to prevent your line from freezing.
