**Upcoming weekend weather cool down tips**
Manual timer clocks and variable
speed set ups.
Variable speed pumpsā ļø
Most modern pool automation systems (Pentair, Hayward, Jandy, etc.) have a freeze protection feature that will automatically turn on your pool pump when the air temperature drops to a preset point (usually around 36ā38°F).
Hereās how it works š
⢠The system uses an air temperature sensor
⢠When temps drop to the freeze threshold, it automatically:
⢠Turns on the pump
⢠May also activate valves, water features, or heaters to keep water moving
⢠Flowing water is much less likely to freeze and damage pipes
A few important tips ā ļø
⢠ā Freeze protection must be turned ON in the settings (itās not always enabled by default)
⢠ā The temperature sensor must be working properly.
⢠ā If thereās a power outage, automation wonāt help
What we recommend you checkāļø
1. Open your automation app or control panel
2. Look for āFreeze Protectionā or āFreeze Guardā
3. Confirm:
⢠Itās enabled
⢠The trigger temp (usually 36ā38°F)
Intermatic timer clocks ā ļø
If you have an intermatic pool timer youāll have to manually turn the pool pump on again oce it turns off after its scheduled run time,
please do this on the nights the temps are due to drop below 38 degrees.
Your timer will look like it does in the pic below.
Once turning the pool pump back on itāll run through the night and through the next day until itās due to turn off again at the scheduled time.
