At MGC Metal Framing & Drywall, we’ve made the decision to install 5/8” Type X fire-rated drywall throughout our current residential projects—not just where code requires it.

Why 5/8” instead of standard 1/2”?

🔴 Greater fire resistance
🔴 More rigid wall & ceiling assemblies
🔴 Better resistance to impact and everyday abuse
🔴 Less tendency to sag on ceilings
🔴 Improved sound control from the added mass
🔴 A heavier, more substantial finished wall

Is 5/8” heavier and more expensive to install? Absolutely.

Do we believe the finished product is worth it? Absolutely.

Through years of relationships within the drywall industry, we have access to a wide range of skilled manpower, allowing us to scale our crews according to project size, workload and schedule.

When several houses are ready at the same time, we have the ability to put the manpower where it’s needed.

That means multiple residential projects can keep moving simultaneously—thousands of square feet of Sheetrock being installed while we continue pushing schedules forward.

The heat is on here in Lake Havasu City and throughout Mohave County… and so is our workload. 🔥💪

Our 3rd quarter schedule is filling up fast, and we’re incredibly grateful for the trust our customers continue to place in Mgc Metal Framing & Drywall.

Current residential projects on the schedule include:
🏠 14,000+ square feet of floor space
📐 75,000+ square feet of drywall to install, tape, texture, and finish

It’s going to be a busy quarter, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

🏆 PROJECT COMPLETE… Finally.

Some projects take a few weeks.

Some take a few months.

And then… there’s this one.

Somewhere between 1979 and today, this nearly 50 year old condo on the banks of the Colorado River had its biggest facelift yet.

What was supposed to be a drywall project somehow evolved into a MULTI-month lesson in patience.

During that timeframe we witnessed.

✔️ Three drywall contractors.

✔️ Five different crews.

✔️ More scheduling gymnastics than an Olympic event.

✔️ Countless delays that had absolutely nothing to do with us.

Through all of it, MGC Metal Framing & Drywall kept showing up and delivered exactly what we were hired to provide—a true Level 4 finish, ready for paint.

The walls are straight.

The finish is smooth.

The scope is complete.

The invoice is paid.

Turns out drywall is actually the easy part…
until someone decides to make it a group project.

Managing, or lack there of, the project is where things got interesting. 😏

On to the next one. We prefer hanging drywall over hanging around.
