We lift homes😎🤘🏽
Earlier this week we caught Isaac and his crew stabilize and lift this hillside home in Encinitas!

They drove down a whole bunch of push piers along the side of the home affected by settlement.

The worst areas were down more than 4 inches😳

Which resulted in tons of exterior and interior cracks.. a front door that wouldn’t open, sliding doors that had big gaps when closed, and a plethora of other issues….

But with the help of some steel push piers and helical tieback anchors this home will never sink, settle, or slide again!💪🏽

Stabilizing a San Clemente foundation😎🤘🏽
We caught Koehn’s and Ryan’s crews as they finished up their excavations, footing prep, and the start of their push pier installations!

Push piers differ from helical piles in that we leverage the weight of the home to hydraulic drive the almost 3” diameter, galvanized steel piers into the earth… rather than spinning them in like big screws with helical piles.

So the crew has to excavate the footings at each of the push pier locations and prep the footing to receive the bracket that everything will attach to.

One of the first push piers that Koehn drove went almost 50 feet before finding competent, load-bearing soils😅

These push piers are a method of underpinning and are a permanent repair for the structure’s foundation!

This particular structure has settled several inches so in addition to stabilizing the foundation we’ll also be able to use these push piers to lift and recover some of the settlement.

Yesterday we began a new foundation repair project in San Clemente🏚️🤘🏽
This multi-unit structure has settled as much as 8 inches in some areas which led to lots of interior and exterior cracks as well as sloping floors!

Our team will be using 39 galvanized steel push piers to execute the stabilization and lift.. today we’ll begin the installations while finishing up the excavations for each pier location.

Have you ever seen a sinking or settling home?

Often times that looks like recurring interior or exterior cracks, sloping floors, leaning chimneys, sticking doors or windows to name a few of the most common signs and symptoms.

Foundation repair has got to be one of the least commonly understood trades when it comes to home improvement. And that’s not because it’s some sort of magic.. it’s usually just because people don’t see it a whole lot.

But a homes foundation is one of the most critical pieces of the structure!

If the foundation is sinking then you’re going to see stress exerted on parts of the structure that shouldn’t see stress.

Although the lifting aspect of these videos looks really cool.. lifting isn’t our main goal at these projects.

Instead it’s to stabilize the foundation and ensure it doesn’t sink or settle again in the future!

All of these homes settled or sank at various levels and our goal was to stop that settling from happening and sometimes even lift and recover some of the settlement!

This is a method of underpinning with helical piles.. and repairs like these are done all across world!

Saving this hillside backyard with helicals, rebar, and a new retaining wall😎🤘🏽

Over the years this backyard was slowly sliding away from the house.. which could really put the house in jeopardy.

We were able to design a repair plan consisting of vertical helical piles, helical tieback anchors, tons of rebar and a new retaining wall to lock this backyard in place and ensure it doesn’t continuing moving towards the hillside!

San Clemente is always a beautiful place to work!
