Exactly 10 days until our Louisiana alligator season officially opens! 🐊🌾

Did you know the American alligator is one of the world's greatest conservation success stories? After being officially removed from the endangered list in 1987, wild populations in Louisiana have rebounded to more than 3 million.

Today, our state-regulated management model generates millions for rural and coastal economies while ensuring the population stays healthy and balanced. I'm proud to be part of this sustainable harvest as a commercial guide, helping to protect our wildlife and wetlands.

Three big hogs helping themselves to the feed trough. Feral hogs can consume large amounts of supplemental feed intended for livestock while also causing significant damage to habitat and agricultural land.

This hog spent the evening feeding in a farmer’s rice crop before bedding down after a full meal. 🐗🌾

Feral hogs can cause significant damage to rice fields in a short amount of time. Managing these populations is essential to helping our farmers.

We were out tonight helping a local cattle farm manage a group of coyotes that were becoming a direct threat to the calves. By providing responsible predator control, we help ensure the safety of the herd and the livelihood of our agricultural partners.

🐊Attention 2026 Alligator Hunters🐊

If you’re booked to hunt with Mareno’s Outfitters this upcoming alligator season, don’t forget that you must purchase your Louisiana Alligator Sport Hunter License before your hunt.

To purchase your license:

1. Visit https://louisianaoutdoors.com and create an account (or log in if you already have one).
2. Important: Don’t look under the Hunting or Fishing menus. The alligator license has its own dedicated “Alligator” tab in the drop-down menu.
3. Select either:
Resident Alligator Sport Hunter License, or
Nonresident Alligator Sport Hunter License

Getting your license ahead of time will help ensure a smooth check-in on hunt day.
