Everybody sees the day a giant palm tree gets installed.

Almost nobody sees the years of work—or the cross-country journey—that happened first.

A specimen Medjool date palm like this can spend decades growing in a date grove.

During that time, it is irrigated, fertilized and carefully maintained while developing the trunk height, heavy canopy and character that make each tree completely unique.

Then comes the part that can make or break the entire move: cutting it out of the ground.

The lower fronds are removed, the canopy is secured and the root zone is carefully cut to create a controlled root ball. The trunk may also be hand-cleaned to create that signature diamond-cut appearance.

Every cut matters.

Damage the root ball, trunk or crown—or lift the palm incorrectly—and an incredible tree can become a very expensive problem before it ever leaves the grove.

Once harvested, the palm is carefully lifted, laid down, secured to a trailer and shipped across the country.

When it finally reaches its new home in Inlet Beach, it has to be unloaded, positioned, installed at the correct depth, stabilized, connected to irrigation and thoroughly watered in.

What looks like a one-day transformation is actually the final step of a process that took years.

Before a tree goes in the ground, we’re thinking about:

THIS JOB TRIED US. 😅🌴

Bricks were in the way. Plants had to be moved. Holes had to be relocated. More than 150 cars had to be redirected—and our tree delivery showed up three hours late.
