Unfortunately, not EVERYTHING is customizable in building a home.

Floor plans and building codes can vary from state to state, and county to county.

Building codes affect things like:
• Required exits
• Door openings
• Insulation Requirements
• Emergency escape openings or windows
• Stairs
• Electrical
• Septic System Sizes
• Room requirements
• Safety features

That's why a homeowner's sketch or vision is a great starting point, but would still need to be developed into a buildable plan that meets the applicable codes and requirements for the project.

• Does the laundry make sense for where the bedrooms are?
• Are bedrooms separated from noisy living areas?
• Is there enough storage where you actually need it?
• How does everyone move through the house during a normal day?

Good planning is really about reducing the little annoyances you would otherwise live with for years.
