The Mirabeau Water Gardens in New Orleans will soak up stormwater diverted to the site from city streets. This helps reduce pump stations' volumes during rain events. Aided by the deep roots of the natives, the water will soak into the soils and also used by the plants, releasing water v***r into the air through evapotranspiration.

We took a field trip to the Louisiana Ave median planting! A bucket of litter was collected and we discussed how to best support the prairie in its young state. After a few years, this whole area will be bursting with native blooms from spring to fall, serving as vital habitat or a stop-along-the-way for pollinators and other wildlife 🐝

This Saturday, pass by and visit our prairie on your way to or back from the ANPP plant sale in Arnaudville. From 9 - 3. If you take I-49 you will pass our place. Our entrance sign is near 725 E MLK Dr, Arnaudville, LA. Take the gravel road, Bajat Trail, to our nursery, posted on google maps. Do not use the maps route, it will take you the wrong way.

We will have some plants for sale also. But selection will be limited as prairie dog Penney and I are taking care of 10 one week old puppies!

Our prairie and nursery at LA Native Seed will be open to tour between 1-5 today. Pass by and take your family portrait in the flower meadow. Find our location in Grand Coteau on google maps, the entrance on Bajat tr will be marked with the native garden tour sign pictured as well as our nursery sign.

Urban Prairie Burn. Eunice, LA. The Cajun Prairie Restoration Site is surrounded by commercial buildings and residential neighborhoods and we conduct this prescribed fire safely every year.

its always refreshing to get out into the long leaf savanna at Dr. Allens to do the annual prescribed burn. And my stomach feels so much better after some pickled daikon salad, cabbage and bean sprouts, fried rice and sweet and sour pork from Mrs. Susan. Thankyou for helping get the burn done.
