UPDATE: Southern Maryland got hit with a fast-moving line of storms overnight.

The National Weather Service had Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s under a severe thunderstorm watch with gusts up to 70 mph, and issued an active warning for part of Calvert from 11:56 PM to 12:45 AM. The line crossed the region moving east at roughly 50 mph. For scale, Reagan National clocked a 64 mph gust just before midnight. There have been many trees down around the area.

Winds in that range don’t usually take your whole roof off. They lift shingles, break seals, and pull granules — damage you won’t see from the driveway, but that turns into a leak six months from now.

If you’re in Calvert, Charles, or St. Mary’s, walk your yard this morning. Shingle pieces in the grass, granules in the downspout splash blocks, or bent gutters are all worth a closer look!

Big thanks to ABC Supply for taking some of our team out s***t shooting on Friday!

It was a great chance to get out of the office, off the roof, and onto the range for some friendly competition and team bonding.

We appreciate ABC for hosting us and putting together such a great day. Thanks again for having us — we had a blast!

Summer weather can go from “looks fine out there” to “where did that storm come from?” fast. Hot, humid, unstable air can cause storms to pop up quickly with little warning, and those sudden storms can leave behind roof, siding, gutter, or exterior damage before you even realize what happened.
