For some, September 11 is a day we remember. For others, it is a day they lived.

Today, we’re honored to share the story of one of our own and his firsthand experience serving with the U.S. Coast Guard in New York Harbor following the attacks on September 11, 2001.

His memories offer a personal glimpse into a day that changed our country forever—not only through unimaginable loss, but through the incredible unity that followed. In the days and months after 9/11, Americans came together with a shared sense of purpose, patriotism, and a willingness to help one another.

Twenty-five years later, may we remember not only those we lost and those who answered the call to serve, but also the way our country stood together as one.

In their honor, we hope you’ll take a moment today to check on someone, lend a helping hand, or simply do something kind for another person.

We will never forget.
