The Future of Work and Work Experience
As design professionals, it's our responsibility to manage our own professional development throughout our careers — including the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs/Learning Units) that keep us current. Usually that means conferences, virtual presentations, or vendor-led sessions on topics like building and material technology, health, safety, and welfare.
Right now, AI is the topic running through every industry. As employers, how do we responsibly encourage creative exploration of new platforms to boost efficiency and innovation — without compromising the security of proprietary and sensitive information?
Yesterday at the University of Tennessee, we got to dig into exactly that with local industry professionals, hosted by our Steelcase vendor, Workspace Interiors. Dr. Tracy Bower, VP of Workplace Insights, led a hopeful, energizing discussion — panelists shared their perspectives on how AI is shaping the workplace, and how we, as employers, can adapt, innovate, and thrive.
The session was only an hour, but it left us hopeful about how TAC can thoughtfully adopt AI — using it to empower our people and ultimately improve the service we offer our clients. We see AI as a tool to enhance human creativity, not replace the human factor.
The word that stuck with us on the way out: HOPE.
