Sometimes a building doesn’t need a complete transformation. It just needs the right team to help give it a fresh start.

East Tennessee Realtors came to us after some of the exterior materials on their building began to fail. Our team helped explore options for updating the look while selecting materials designed to weather better and require less maintenance over time.

Now demolition is underway, and we’re excited to see the transformation begin!

Projects like this are a good reminder that even a “small” renovation can benefit from an architect’s involvement. Having another set of experienced eyes can help clarify the vision, evaluate options, and make decisions that protect your investment for the long term.

What a way to start the week! 🏟️🍊

Associated General Contractors Networking at Neyland brought together industry leaders, UT Construction Science students, and VFLs for an afternoon of conversations, connections, and shared stories.

And after Saturday’s big win over Alabama in the annual cigar game, it felt like the smell of victory, and maybe a few lingering ci**rs, was still in the air. 😄

Thank you to the Associated General Contractors of Tennessee Knoxville Region and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville for creating an opportunity to gather, share ideas, and build relationships across our industry.

’Tis the season for celebrations, galas... and overalls! 👖✨

Our team had a wonderful evening at the Overall Ball at the Knoxville Botanical Garden, supporting an important mission: helping make fresh food more accessible and affordable for neighbors in the 37915 community.

We’ve enjoyed helping bring BattleField Farm & Gardens, ONE FIVE grocery vision to life and giving others a chance to see and support what’s possible in an area with limited access to affordable food.

And really, how many galas give you the chance to throw on a pair of overalls and square dance? 💃🕺

Another special evening celebrating the people who make Knoxville’s design community so meaningful.

We were honored to join in recognizing L. Duane Grieve for decades of service as an architect, community leader, mentor, and former ETCDC Executive Director.

It was a wonderful evening celebrating Duane and the work of so many across our industry. We’re grateful to be part of a design community that continues to support, inspire, and learn from one another.

From the Ground Up: Little Volunteer Childcare!

There's something special about watching a project go from the first shovel of dirt to a beautiful finished building!

We're excited to share a look at Little Volunteer Childcare, one of the newest projects taking shape in the Belltown Community in Powell.

From digging footers and placing rebar to seeing the completed building beautifully lit up at night, it's rewarding to watch a vision become reality.

At oysk3, we love designing spaces that make a difference in people's lives. And what better investment in a community than creating a place where its youngest members will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive?

We're proud to be part of this project and look forward to seeing Little Volunteer Childcare welcome its first families!

It’s been a busy stretch around here, but we didn’t want to miss the chance to celebrate some of our own. 🎉

At the annual AIA Awards Gala, our team had the opportunity to celebrate the work happening across Knoxville’s architecture community and recognize the accomplishments of our peers and teammates.

This year, several members of the oysk3 team submitted six entries for the Housing ETN Middle Housing Catalog, taking the opportunity to stretch creatively and think outside the box. We were also proud to see Jonah Pruitt recognized during the evening.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to celebrate great work, support one another, and be part of such a talented design community.

Some places are more than places. They carry stories we should never forget. 🇺🇸

Last week, Sherry and her husband, Bill, had the opportunity to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania. For Sherry, the experience was deeply personal.

On September 11, 2001, she was living overseas as a military spouse with Bill, now a retired U.S. Air Force combat veteran, and their children. In the years since, their family’s connection to aviation has continued, with their daughter serving as a flight attendant for five years and their son-in-law currently flying as a regional airline pilot.

Standing at the memorial brought those memories, connections, and emotions together.

More importantly, it was a powerful reminder of the 40 passengers and crew members of Flight 93 whose courage and sacrifice on September 11 helped protect countless others.

Their story is one of ordinary people faced with an unimaginable moment who chose to act with extraordinary courage.

We are grateful for places like the Flight 93 National Memorial that preserve their stories and give future generations a place to remember, reflect, and honor.

We remember. We honor. We are grateful. 🇺🇸

The building featured here is Custom Foods of America, where we’ve had the opportunity to work on multiple expansion projects over the years.

Manufacturing spaces bring together architecture, engineering, operations, equipment, skilled trades, and a whole lot of coordination. We’re proud to play a role in creating and adapting the spaces that help manufacturers do what they do best.

Today, we celebrate the manufacturers, contractors, engineers, tradespeople, and teams who keep things moving.

Beautiful night. Clear skies. Perfect weather. And a great chance to cheer on One Knox.

We had the honor of having Dylan, our UT intern, join us for tonight’s match, which made the evening even more fun since soccer is his favorite sport.

As we post this, One Knox is tied at zero with about 10 minutes left, so we are keeping our fingers crossed and cheering for a strong finish.
