This is a tough post for us to make but we want to take a minute to honor an employee.

Jason worked with us off and on over the last few years. Many of you, our clients, got to know him as Doc. He was our utility guy. Irrigation, clean up, and anything else we needed, Doc would hit it with fervor and pride!

Doc passed away Monday morning and left a big hole in our River Valley family. He was a character for sure and he brought a lot of laughter and levity to our days.

He will be sorely missed by us and those that loved him.

Remember, a kind word and gesture may make you feel better but it may give a downtrodden person that sliver of hope they need to improve their life.

So today and this weekend, if you see this post, let it be your cue to say a kind word to a stranger, help another out or even just check on someone that you know that may be down on their luck.

Let’s put differences aside for a few days and let’s spread a little love. Who knows, maybe we can save a life together to celebrate another’s passing.

We do a few different things here at River Valley.

Mostly, we install landscapes to beautify areas, improve curb appeal and to create spaces for friends and family to gather.

Often we are fixing drainage and erosion areas.

Other times, we are helping to create function or space!

This one is all three!

We took a small u usable area and created a space that checks a lot of boxes!

✅ ugly unusable hillside gone!

✅ protecting our shorelines and streams utilizing
Native plantings, stone and grading!

✅ Creating space! Done!

✅ perfect spot to hang with friends and family!

✅ permeable drainage system that filters and cleans runoff prior to entering lakes and streams!

A Different Perspective Changes Everything.

There’s something inspiring about seeing the Smoky Mountains from above.

From the ground, you see trees, hills, roads and valleys. But when you get above it all, you begin to see how everything connects—the contours of the land, the natural flow of the terrain, and how each piece fits into a much bigger picture.

That same idea has changed the way we approach landscape design.

Using drone technology, we can see a property from a perspective that simply isn’t possible standing on the ground. We can better understand how the home sits on the property, how the land flows around it, where existing trees and natural features are located, and how the different outdoor spaces can work together.

The goal isn’t to force a design onto the land.

It’s to understand the land first—and then design something that belongs there.

Technology gives us better tools, but nature is still one of our greatest teachers.

Sometimes you just have to get a little higher to see the possibilities.

👏🍾Another one in the books!!!🍾👏

This little 💎 in Hardin Valley really exceeded our expectations!!!

What started as an unsightly hillside with no appeal, turned into a great little seating area to watch the kids play in the backyard!

From Belgarde Castle Manor Granna wall to the natural Tennessee flagstone patio, this project is a wrap!!

Yep…we’re still here. 👈🏼👈🏼👈🏼

We’ve just been too busy building landscapes to spend much time on social media.🪏🪨🪏

Around here, we’d rather let our work do the talking.

Here’s a before and after from one that’s hard to put into words.

We build plenty of retaining walls, patios, outdoor living spaces, and landscapes, and we’re thankful for every one of them. But every once in a while, a project comes along that isn’t just another job—it becomes a chance to create something special, something unique.

No drawings. No blueprint. No step-by-step plan. Just a client who trusted us, a crew that takes pride in their craft, and the freedom to build something from the ground up.

What came out of it is something we’re incredibly proud of. Around here, we don’t just move dirt and stack stone—we build places families will enjoy for years to come. This one feels more like artwork than landscaping.

Today, we celebrate all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, and father figures who work hard, lead by example, and help things grow—both in their families and in their communities.
Just like a beautiful landscape takes care, patience, and dedication, so does raising a family. We’re grateful for the fathers who spend weekends in the yard, teach life lessons under the shade of a tree, and create outdoor spaces where memories are made.
