Old houses leak around the windows. Almost all of them do, eventually.
The leak itself is small. The problem is time. On this house nobody caught it, and the water kept going until the framing around the window and the band board underneath were gone. All of it has to be rebuilt before any siding goes back on.
A leak around a window is a cheap fix. This is not.
If you see peeling paint or soft trim around a window, look at it now.

$3,000 to $3,500. That's what this wall costs to put back.
It started as water getting in around the window. On an older house that's normal and it's a small repair. But nobody caught it, and the water kept working until the framing around the window and the band board underneath had to be rebuilt.
Go look at your windows this week. Peeling paint, soft trim, gaps in the caulk — that's the cheap stage.
