Pro tip for catching a hidden water leak before it wrecks your floors. 💧

Shut off every faucet and water-using appliance in the house.

Find your water meter, note the reading, and wait 30 minutes without touching any water.

Check it again. ✅ If the numbers moved, water is going somewhere it should not be.

Slab leaks and behind the wall drips hide for months this way. Catch it early. (865) 432-1337

Water heaters tend to fail in the fall and winter, when they're working the hardest. 🚿

If you know what to look for, it's easy to spot a water heater that needs attention. Rust creeping up from the base, a damp ring on the floor that keeps coming back, or a slow drip at the valve all point to a tank that's on its way out. When a water heater fails, it can put forty gallons or more onto the floor at once, which reaches drywall, carpet, and anything stored nearby within minutes. Take a minute to check yours this season.

📞 If your tank has already given out, RestoPros can extract the water and dry the space. Call us 24/7.

One myth we hear constantly: spray some bleach on mold and it is gone for good. 🦠

On a hard, non-porous surface like tile or a sealed countertop, bleach handles surface mold fine.

The problem is drywall, wood, and grout. Those are porous, and mold sends roots down below the surface.

Bleach kills the top layer while the roots keep growing underneath, so a week later it is back.

Worse, bleach is mostly water, and on porous material that added moisture can feed the very mold you are trying to kill.

If mold keeps coming back, the real fix is finding the moisture source and removing the affected material properly.

That is what our team does, and mold inspections are free. ✅

After a fire is out, the smell is what lingers. People ask us why they cannot just scrub it away or cover it up.

Smoke works itself into places cleaning cannot reach.

Here is how our team actually removes it:

➡️ Soot comes off every surface, including inside cabinets and closets

➡️ Materials that soaked up smoke get cleaned or removed, not masked

➡️ Hydroxyl and thermal treatments break down the odor molecules in the air

➡️ The HVAC system gets addressed, since smoke traveled through every duct

Masking the smell is not the same as getting rid of it. Dealing with smoke or soot after a fire?

Our certified crew handles the whole process: https://www.restopros.co/tn-knoxville/services/fire-smoke-damage/

Every hour a water loss goes unaddressed at your business is an hour of lost revenue, and it's also an hour the damage keeps spreading. 💧

Here at RestoPros, we want to get you back to business as soon as possible. Getting a restoration crew moving is the most important step, because water is working into your business every second. Before anything is moved, the loss must be recorded. Then, our team goes in with drying equipment and runs until materials test back to normal levels.

📞 RestoPros can work outside your business hours, and inspections don't cost anything. Call us the moment you find water.

When did you last clean out your dryer vent? Not the lint trap. The actual vent line that runs to the outside of your house. 🔥

Lint is basically kindling, and it packs into that duct a little more with every load.

A clogged vent makes the dryer run hotter and longer, and that combination causes thousands of house fires a year.

Warning signs:

➡️ Clothes still damp after a full cycle
➡️ The dryer or laundry room feels hot to the touch
➡️ A burning smell when it runs

See any of those? Pull the vent, clear it out, and make sure the outside flap opens freely.

Give your gutters a look this fall, and avoid costly clogs. 🍁

A gutter packed with wet leaves has nowhere to send water, so it spills over the edge and runs straight down the siding. From there, it pools against the foundation, where it can find its way into the basement or crawl space. Clearing the troughs and confirming your downspouts carry water several feet away from the house saves you a much bigger problem this fall.

📞 RestoPros is here for you 24/7 if water has already made it inside.

Fire prevention can start with something as simple as how you charge.

Use the right charger, choose a hard surface, and unplug once the battery is full. Small habits can help prevent a major loss.

October is Fire Prevention Month, so here's a five-minute job worth doing this week: give your smoke alarms a real once-over. 🔥

A few things most Knoxville homeowners miss:

1️⃣ Put an alarm inside every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the house, basement included.
2️⃣ If your detectors are more than 10 years old, replace them. The sensors wear out even when the unit still beeps.
3️⃣ Hold the test button until it sounds. A dead battery is the top reason an alarm stays quiet when it counts.

Working alarms buy the minutes that save lives. If fire ever touches your home, our certified crew answers 24/7.

Fall rain gets into your basement through the same weak spots every year. 🍂

Once the leaves come down, the systems that carry water away from your house are the first things to get overwhelmed.

Clogged gutters send the overflow straight down the wall, and downspouts that stop short leave it pooling at the foundation. Every fall, water works its way inside. This list covers the six spots worth checking before the next steady rain.

Already finding water where it shouldn't be? RestoPros responds 24/7. 📞

When the first heavy autumn rain rolls in, that's the worst possible moment to find out your sump pump has been sitting idle all summer. 🌧️

The good news is that checking it takes about two minutes. Grab a bucket, run a quick test, and make sure the pump actually powers on and clears the water like it should. If it stays quiet or sounds like it's straining, you'll be glad you found out on a dry afternoon instead of during the next storm, when a pump that gives out can leave an inch of water across the basement floor.

📞 Is your basement already taking on water? RestoPros is here for you 24/7.

You know that draft you feel near the front door? It's small enough to shrug off in the summer, but it points to a bigger problem when the weather turns. 🍁

The openings around doors and windows are easy to ignore, but they're exactly where wet weather slips in as fall begins. A little sealing now saves you a mess down the road, so it's worth handling before the first real storm rolls through.

📞 If you find water where it shouldn’t be this fall, call us. RestoPros responds 24/7.

Fall is officially here, which means the season your house has to fight off is switching from heat and humidity to rain and damp. 🍂

The first day of fall is a good time to walk your home and close off the little gaps where autumn moisture likes to sneak in. A few small fixes now, such as fresh weatherstripping, a quick roof look, and an eye on your indoor humidity, go a long way once the wet months arrive.

📞 Moisture already getting the upper hand? RestoPros is here to help this fall, with 24/7 emergency response.
