In Central Florida landscaping, the Podocarpus is one of those plants that quietly does a lot of heavy lifting.

It’s often used as a natural privacy hedge around commercial properties, HOAs, and retail centers because it stays dense, responds well to trimming, and holds up in Florida’s heat and humidity better than many other hedge options.

What makes it popular with property managers is how flexible it is, kept tight for a clean, formal look or allowed to grow a bit softer for a more natural screen.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it's a good reminder to pause and think about the people in our lives who have been touched by it, whether as patients, survivors, caregivers, or those we've lost.

If you've been putting off a screening or checkup, consider this your nudge. Schedule the mammogram, do the self-exam, or ask your doctor what's right for you. Early detection can make a real difference.

And if you're supporting someone going through it right now, a simple check-in goes a long way.

Take care of yourself, and each other. 💗

Most people think of theme parks when they hear Orlando.

Fun fact: Orlando is the only city in Florida with TWO major green industry headquarters — U.S. Lawns and Massey Services. Florida has more landscaping businesses than any other state in the country.

Coincidence? Not even close.

Year-round growing season. Explosive development. A market that never slows down. Central Florida is one of the best-kept secrets in the green industry.

Daylight is getting shorter everywhere right now, and on commercial properties that changes the risk picture before anyone thinks to look at it.

Tenants and visitors who arrived and left in daylight all summer are now doing one of those trips in the dark. Overgrown shrubs that were a curb appeal issue in July become a sightline issue in September, blocking a light fixture, a walkway edge, a step, or the view around a parking lot corner.

The fix is a pruning pass focused on lighting and walking paths rather than appearance, and a walk of the property after dark to see what your tenants are seeing.

If nobody has walked your site in the evening this season, that's worth doing. We can help.
