🐜🐝 Know the Difference: Carpenter Ants, Carpenter Bees & Termites 🏠
Not all wood-damaging pests are the same! Here’s how to tell them apart:
🔹 Carpenter Ants
* Large black or reddish-black ants
* Don’t eat wood, but tunnel through it to build nests
* Leave behind sawdust-like debris called frass
* Often found in damp or damaged wood
🔹 Carpenter Bees
* Large bees that resemble bumblebees
* Drill perfectly round holes into wood to create nesting tunnels
* Common around decks, fences, eaves, and wooden trim
* Males may hover near people but can’t sting
🔹 Termites
* Feed on and consume wood from the inside out
* Cause the most serious structural damage
* Build mud tubes to travel and stay protected
* Damage is often hidden until it becomes severe
