Tuesday afternoon was a blast celebrating the Sumner High School Phase 2 groundbreaking ceremony!

This phased construction project is truly the heart of this close-knit community. Our Hutteball + Oremus Architecture team feels incredibly fortunate to be part of that unmistakable valley pride! 💜

Christian Baugher, joins the HOA team! He has a background as an Architectural Designer and Project Manager with 10+ years of experience leading commercial, and community-focused projects from concept design through construction. Christian is passionate about design excellence, and innovative building solutions.

When we asked him why he chose a path in architecture he shared, "I am curious by nature and enjoy that architecture requires constant learning and improvement."

When he is not in the office he is running after his two daughters, spending time with his wife, and most likely swimming in some body of water since he is part fish! 😉

We are strongest when our industry is inclusive, equitable, and diverse! Shoutout to our Principal, Steve Murakami, for spending Saturday supporting NOMA NW’s Project Pipeline. Steve said it was incredible watching students present their 2026 design concepts. He felt the passion in their voices, and listened to some impressive sophisticated thinking.

Beyond the Desk Series

The theme of this series is to highlight our team out in the world, sharing experiences of travel, food, nature, and beyond. They bring back life beyond the desk and enrich our minds with new perspectives.

In our latest Beyond the Desk feature, we’re featuring one of our Architectural Associates, Alex Taam! When Alex is not at his desk, you can follow his heart back home where he likes to soak up time with his family. 💚

This summer has been jam-packed with spending time outdoors exploring nature, finding accessible playgrounds, and taking their first family vacation.

"Making sure my daughter has spaces where she can play and just be a kid is something I strive to accomplish. A big part of my life is supporting the things she's passionate about, like helping her perform at her ballet recitals."

This year's World Cup became a fun surprise bonding moment too! "We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend a match live, and I've loved getting to share that with my family. This has sparked a real love of soccer for Juniper."

Alex has also picked up a couple of new hobbies lately, like experimenting with 3D printing designs and learning how to keep a bonsai tree alive. Apparently, he is still working on his green thumb. 😉

Check out the incredible momentum at Inglemoor High School - Phase I. These progress pictures keep us motivated. It feels like we were just celebrating the topping-out ceremony back in May! Last Thursday, we welcomed two curious and enthusiastic children to HOA! Alvina and Abrahim were with us for the afternoon and were able to ask ALL the questions, as well as have some hands-on fun. Alvina talked about site safety, built a 3D model (and snacked on the building materials 😉), created three mood boards in our sample library, and left with an HOA badge and a huge smile. Abrahim was more curious about civil engineering and rendering. He was on a call with one of our Senior Architects to dive into their past experience as a civil engineer, and he sat with one of our principals to create some fun renders.

We loved having their energy in the office, and they both said they would be excited to work with us in a few years!

Tu is a recent graduate from UW. When asked what drew him to , Tu said, "I want to contribute my energy, passion, and skills to a firm whose mission aligns with my values. I am particularly inspired by HOA's commitment to designing and creating educational environments that support and empower future generations. The opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that positively impact students, educators, and communities is both exciting and fulfilling to me." Tu has a background in urban design and enjoys sketching, animation, and trying delicious Asian cuisine! We are so lucky to have you on the team, Tu! 😊
