YOU DON’T SEE THIS EVERY DAY! 😳🎨
We knew this project was going to require some serious prep, but once we got started, we discovered just how extensive it really was.
Virtually none of the previous paint job was properly bonded. As we began scraping, the newer coating came off in large sheets, exposing the previous coating underneath.
At that point, simply painting over it wasn’t an option. A quality paint job is only as good as the surface underneath it.
Our team removed the majority of the failed paint, thoroughly sanded the surfaces, applied an oil-based primer, sanded again, spot-filled imperfections with Bondo, re-primed repaired areas, completed another round of finish sanding, and then applied two coats of Benjamin Moore Advance.
This was a very time-consuming process, but when you're dealing with coating failure like this, there are no shortcuts if you want to do it correctly.
The finished product looks clean and simple—but there is a tremendous amount of preparation underneath that final finish.
It’s not just about putting paint on. It’s about doing the work necessary to make sure it stays on.
