🔥 Keeping Northeast Tennessee Safe This Winter 🔥

We spoke with WCYB about the hidden dangers of space heaters — and how a few small steps can prevent big tragedies.

According to data from the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, nearly 80% of residential fires in Northeast Tennessee are electrical in nature — and most can be prevented with just a few simple safety habits:
✅ Plug heaters directly into the wall
✅ Keep them on their own circuit
✅ Always unplug when unattended

Warmth should never come at the cost of safety.

⚡️👻 A Day in the Life of a TriCities Electric Estimator — and the Real Horror Stories We Find 👻⚡️

In today’s video, Tim, our owner and lead estimator, heads out on two calls in the Greater Kingsport area — and what he finds is downright terrifying. 😱

🔌 Call #1: A sub panel in an attic with a massive list of code violations — unsafe, improperly installed, and downright dangerous.

🏚️ Call #2: A family with kids was left in extreme danger after another company’s shoddy work — receptacles hanging out of the walls in a child’s bedroom, an uncovered electrical panel, and energized wires buried in insulation. Absolutely unacceptable.

At TriCities Electric, we don’t just restore power — we restore peace of mind. ⚡
We’ll be submitting our estimates with detailed recommendations to make these homes safe again.

Our TriCities Electric crew wrapped up a full ballast bypass and bulb replacement on every parking lot light at this apartment complex in Bristol, TN — right before the rain rolled in! ⏱️

🚨 When in doubt… call Tim. 😎

This customer’s whole-home vacuum system “wasn’t working.” Tim shows up, plugs it in — and boom 💥 it starts right up like nothing ever happened.

Moral of the story: sometimes it’s not the system, it’s the socket 😅

🚨 Kitchen Mystery in Kingsport 🚨

We got a call from a tenant who heard a dangerous clicking sound coming from her kitchen. ⚡️
Turns out, her GFCI receptacle had gone bad AND was wired incorrectly. (Double trouble!)

Our licensed electrician:
✅ Opened the panel & checked voltage
✅ Traced the issue to the kitchen GFCI
✅ Found water damage + faulty wiring
✅ Repaired the box with proper pigtails
✅ Installed a brand-new, safe GFCI

Now the kitchen is powered up and safe again. 👌

👉 Pro tip: Test your GFCI outlets once a month. They’re small but mighty, and they can save lives.
