It’s time to get your team together for the OBHBA Fall Golf Tournament, presented by Kempsville Building Materials, on Wednesday, October 28th at The Pointe Golf Club!

Join us for a great afternoon of golf, networking, friendly competition, and plenty of fun with fellow OBHBA members.

All licensed general contractors must complete their 8 hours of continuing education by November 30th each year. If you have obtained your contractors license in 2026, you still must complete 8 hours of continuing education.
If you only need 2 or 4 or 6 hours, please email me.

2026 Second Quarter Newsletter and New Members Spotlight

April:
April14th: The Parade of Homes Committee continued to meet to discuss the upcoming Parade of Homes being held October 8th-10th.

April 17th: The Builders & Brews Happy Hour was hosted by North Beach Servicing Heating & Cooling at 105 Park Drive, Harbinger. Good Food-Good Drinks-Great Fellowship and Great Host!

April 22nd: The Spring Golf Tournament was held at The Pointe. Thank you to all the teams and sponsors that helped make this tournament so great. And thank you to Kellogg Supply for being a Corporate Sponsor and Culpeper Wood Preserves for being the Event Sponsor!

April 28th: The Legislative Committee met and the Board of Directors met to continue to discuss the business of the Association.

May:
May 1st: Blueprints & Bogeys Reverse Raffle for NCHBA Build-PAC was held at Sandtrap Tavern. A huge thank you to our Major Sponsor-Kempsville Building Materials and Sponsor-Paul Perkins with Blossman Gas & Appliance.
Congratulations to our last man standing with the winning ticket-Tom Haddon!!!

May 12th-13th: The NCHBA 2nd Quarter Meeting was held in Raleigh. For those that could attend, your leadership met with their Legislators that advocate for the state’s home building industry.

NCHBA was proud to honor Representative Mark Brody with the inaugural Mark Brody Public Official Housing Champion Award.
This newly named award recognizes public officials who demonstrate outstanding leadership, service and commitment to advancing housing in North Carolina. It was a fitting tribute to Rep. Brody, whose longtime support of the home building industry has made a lasting impact across our state.
The award was presented during a reception following NCHBA’s 2nd Quarter Meeting in Raleigh.

May 13th: SAGA met with three different Construction & Carpentry classes from First Flight HS to show them actual field examples of practices that they are learning in the classroom. Each group had +/- 15 students ranging in experience and knowledge levels. SAGA chose Hamilton Cay building #107 because it currently displays framing and rough-in of utilities (plumbing, electrical, & fire sprinkler).

May 19th: The Parade of Homes met and the Call to Action was sent to the Builders.

May 26th: The Legislative Committee and Board of Directors met to continue to work on behalf of the Association.

June:
June 9th: The Parade of Home Committee met to continue the hard work that goes into making the Parade of Homes successful.

June 19th: Builders & Brews happy Hour was hosted by SimpleSide Construction at 8468 Caratoke Hwy., Powells Point. Once again, Good Food-Good Drink-Fun Folks!! SimpleSide not only hosted but was able to showcase their remodeled office building.

May 23rd: The Legislative Committee and Board of Directors met to continue their work on behalf of the Association.

First Flight High School Carpentry & Construction Classes:

Attached are some photos from the coop SAGA along with Brian DePedro of First Flight High School constructed on May 13th. SAGA met with three different Construction & Carpentry classes to show them actual field examples of practices that they are learning in the classroom. Each group had +/- 15 students ranging in experience and knowledge levels. SAGA chose Hamilton Cay building #107 because it currently displays framing and rough-in of utilities (plumbing, electrical, & fire sprinkler). SAGA typically works with FFHS twice a year with their students. Please encourage interested students to find a career or further education in construction and building trades.
