On a warm Key West evening, Elizabeth sat on her porch, watching the sun melt into the water, but all she could think about was how “heavy” the air inside her home felt compared to the salty breeze outside. She loved her little island bungalow, yet every time the A/C kicked on, the air seemed stale, musty, and thick, no matter how often she dusted or cleaned. She wanted her home to feel as fresh as the ocean air that surrounded her paradise.
One day, chatting with a neighbor over Cuban coffee, she heard about DELTAir LLC and their evaporator coil cleaning and Decon 30 duct fogging service. Her neighbor described how, after the service, the whole house felt lighter, cooler, and more comfortable, like opening a window to a soft tropical breeze without the humidity. That stuck with Maria, because in Key West, beating the heat and humidity while keeping the air feeling clean is everything.
When the DELTAir team arrived, they showed her the dust and buildup that had been clinging to her evaporator coil, forcing her system to work harder just to keep up with the island heat. They explained that a clean coil helps her A/C cool more efficiently and evenly, so every room can finally feel consistently comfortable instead of sticky and uneven. As they worked, she imagined her system finally getting the deep clean it had been begging for through every long, hot summer.
Next came the fogging of the ducts with Benefect Decon 30, a botanical disinfectant and deodorizer. As the fine mist traveled through her ductwork, it was designed to reach the hidden spaces she could never get to on her own, helping to kill odor‑causing bacteria and fungi that were behind that stubborn musty smell. Knowing it was a plant‑based solution formulated to disinfect and deodorize without harsh chemical residues gave her a sense of calm as she pictured her family breathing easier.
That night, when the A/C cycled on, Maria noticed the change immediately. The air felt cooler faster, without that heavy, damp sensation that usually lingered after a hot Key West day. The musty odor was gone, replaced by air that simply smelled clean, like the way the island feels after a light rain. For the first time in a long time, her home’s air matched the beauty of the place she lived in.
Over the next few weeks, she realized her system seemed to run more smoothly, without struggling as much against the relentless heat and humidity. She felt better knowing that regular evaporator coil cleaning and duct sanitation could help her A/C last longer, saving her from surprise breakdowns in the middle of a scorching afternoon. In a town where comfort and cool air are essential, it felt like she had given her home—and her family—a quiet but powerful gift.
Now, when friends stop by after a day on Duval Street or out on the water, they comment on how fresh and comfortable her home feels the moment they step inside. Maria smiles, pours them a drink, and tells them about DELTAir LLC and the difference that a clean evaporator coil and Decon 30 duct fogging made for her Key West oasis. And every time the cool, clean air wraps gently around her, she’s reminded that sometimes the biggest change is in the way home *feels* the moment you walk through the door.
If you want your Key West home to feel this way too, reach out to DELTAir LLC and ask about evaporator coil cleaning and Benefect Decon 30 duct fogging—so your indoor air can finally match the paradise outside your front door.

How to know when you need your evaporator coil cleaned.
The Benefits of Professional Evaporator Coil Cleaning.
The evaporator coil is a crucial component in any air conditioning system. Unfortunately, it’s hidden inside the blower compartment, making it hard to see. When the coil becomes dirty, it can cause problems for the entire system. And if these problems are allowed to continue for long enough, they can cause irreversible damage to the air conditioner.
Luckily, there’s no need to be a professional HVAC tech to tell the coil is dirty. There are three signs homeowners can look out for that indicate their evaporator coil needs professional cleaning. A clean evaporator coil will help the system function properly — keeping the home and those in it comfortable.

1) AC Won’t Cool

The evaporator coil could be to blame if the air conditioner has trouble cooling the house. The coil is responsible for absorbing the heat inside the house, so one can transfer it outside. To do this, the coil needs direct access to the air around it so the refrigerant inside the coil can work its cooling magic.
But when there’s dirt on the coil, there’s a barrier between the warm air in the air handler and the refrigerant in the coil. Depending on how dirty the coil is, this could reduce efficiency slightly or drastically. This means the air conditioner will run, but it won’t cool the home. And even a slight drop in efficiency can cause energy bills to rise dramatically.

2) Frost on the Coil

When the evaporator coil gets dirty, it can eventually lead to frost or ice forming on the coil. This happens because the dirt on the coil impedes the refrigerant’s ability to absorb heat. And if it can’t absorb heat, it won’t warm up, which is essential to its proper function. Soon enough, condensation will form on the freezing coil. That condensation will then freeze, impeding the coil’s ability to absorb heat.
A frozen evaporator coil can cause all kinds of problems for the AC system. It can damage fins and even warp the AC coil itself. When this happens, the air conditioner will often stop cooling altogether, and the only way to fix it will be through costly repairs.

3) Air Conditioner Runs for Too Long.

Not every dirty evaporator coil will freeze. But most will cause other noticeable problems before they become an HVAC emergency. When the air conditioner starts running for longer and longer cycles, it often means the AC evaporator coil is dirty. Since a dirty coil affects efficiency, the air conditioner won’t get down to the temperature when it usually does. So it will need to run longer to cool the house.
If you notice your air conditioner running for longer than usual should keep an eye on it. If these long cycles continue, it’s best to call a professional HVAC company to clean the evaporator coil. Most professional HVAC companies provide evaporator coil cleaning in regular maintenance plans. But if the air conditioner hasn’t seen professional maintenance in a while, it’s time for an evaporator coil cleaning!

🌡️ Is Your Mini-Split System Making You Sick or Costing You Extra?
That musty smell isn't just unpleasant—it could be a sign of a hidden problem lurking in your mini-split coils! In humid Key West, our systems work overtime, creating the perfect breeding ground for mold, mildew, and bacteria if not cleaned properly.
How often do you need a deep clean? At least ONCE a year—sometimes more!
Just wiping the filters isn't enough to reach the hidden coils and blower wheel where contaminants build up. This "dirty sock syndrome" leads to more than just bad smells; it impacts your health and your wallet!
Here’s WHY regular professional coil cleaning is essential:
⚡ Lower Energy Bills: Dirty coils make your system work up to 30% harder to cool your home, jacking up your utility costs.
reathe Better Air: We remove the mold, dust mites, and allergens, so you're circulating clean, healthy air, not pollutants.
🛠️ Prevent Costly Breakdowns: That extra strain can damage your system's most expensive components, like the compressor, leading to premature failure.
❄️ Maximize Comfort: A clean system provides consistent, reliable cooling, keeping you comfortable even on the hottest Key West days.
Think of it like an oil change for your car—routine maintenance prevents major issues down the road!
Leave the deep cleaning to the pros. Our team at DELTAir uses specialized tools and solutions to safely and thoroughly clean your entire system.

That's how an evaporator coil looks, BEFORE and AFTER it gets cleaned. The restricted airflow decreases its performance in cooling, but perhaps even more importantly, in dehumidification. Of course, the dirt on your coil creates the ideal environment for mold, fungus, and microbes to grow. Call DELTAir (305) 360-9754 to breathe better!
