I was recently contracted to repair and refinish this beautiful solid wood desk top. After sitting next to a window for an extended period, the intense UV sunlight had severely faded and damaged the finish.

Today, we officially completed the refinishing project, bringing the natural color, depth, and protection back to the wood. Swipe through the photos to see the difference!

We stripped it down to reveal this beautiful, solid yellow pine—originally built by hand in a local garage or home shop. It’s finally prepped and will soon be ready for a fresh coat of stain to bring out its natural character.

🛠️ New Custom Furniture Restoration Project at Shoup Woodworks! 🪵

Someone built this unique pine cabinet in their garage or shop quite a few years ago, and a client just brought it into our shop exactly as you see it here. It is time to bring it back to life!

Starting today, July 31, 2026, I am taking on this vintage furniture restoration challenge. Here is the complete refinishing process to restore this piece:

Wood Stripping & Sanding: Removing years of wear down to the beautiful bare wood.

Structural Wood Repairs: Fixing damage and adding new adjustable feet for stability.

Pre-Stain Conditioning: Essential for pine wood to ensure an even, blotch-free color.

Custom Staining & Sealing: Staining the entire piece (including inside the drawers!) and applying durable coats of premium sealer.

Hardware Replacement: Swapping out the broken, shop-made wooden drawer k***s for fresh, high-quality hardware.

Wish me luck on this wood refinishing journey—I’m going to need it! Stay tuned for progress photos and the final before-and-after reveal.
