Expert on-site furniture refinishing in Houston, Texas. I recently completed an in-place restoration of a heavy, antique walnut table, a process that requires specialized techniques for stationary pieces.

This piece features a solid walnut base with a solid wood substrate. Because of its age, the walnut veneer is significantly thicker than modern commercial veneers, allowing for a deeper, high-quality restoration that preserves its historical integrity and craftsmanship.

If you need professional restoration for a special, heavy, or antique piece of furniture, contact Mike at Shoup Woodworks in Houston.

Breathing new life into this beautiful Brazilian Rosewood dining table! 🪵✨

Recently, Shoup Woodworks in Houston was contracted to restore this stunning piece. Over the years, the original finish had completely failed, hiding the wood's natural character.

The Restoration Process:
I carefully removed the old lacquer using a scraper and sandpaper to protect the delicate grain. To ensure lasting durability and a rich, hand-rubbed glow, I applied 4 coats of wipe-on polyurethane and sealed it with a premium finishing wax.

Do you have a cherished piece of furniture that needs to be renewed? Let’s bring it back to its former glory. I look forward to hearing from you!

My name is Michael Shoup, owner and operator of Shoup Woodworks in Houston Texas and formerly of Kerrville Texas. Being the owner/operator means I own it and I do the work. Check out my website, Shoupwoodworks.com. In addition to being a craftsman I possess a unique ability. I, on my own, have the ability to turn expensive, exotic wood into scrap and sawdust. Try not to be too jealous. There you have it. If you want something built, repaired, repurposed, or refinished contact me at [email protected]. I'll make sure you don't have to see the scraps and sawdust

☀️ Is the Houston sun taking a toll on your favorite furniture? Check out this Before & After transformation!

I was recently contracted to repair and refinish this beautiful solid wood desk top. After sitting next to a window for an extended period, the intense UV sunlight had severely faded and damaged the finish.

Today, we officially completed the refinishing project, bringing the natural color, depth, and protection back to the wood. Swipe through the photos to see the difference!

If you have a cherished piece of furniture that is sun-damaged, scratched, or simply needs a fresh start, we can bring it back to life.
