Kerrville , there is no such thing as a roofing license in Texas.

This means that anyone can try and put a roof on in Texas.

Here are some tips

1. Have a roofer THAT YOU TRUST inspect the roof BEFORE filing a claim. Why before? Because if you get an adjuster that does not know what he is doing, then you may miss thousands of dollars due to you via insurance.

2. Have the roofer that you trust schedule the appointment with the insurance adjuster. This keeps the full process ABOVE BOARD and keeps nothing in the shadows. Holding the insurance accountable to their legal obligation and also having someone on the roof looking out for your best interest is key.

3. Chose someone that you, KNOW, LIKE , and TRUST.

There are many roofers out there who will be fly by night, this means they may put a cheap roof on for you but they will be gone with the wind if and when warranty issues arise.

and Remember

The estimate that you receive from the insurance IS YOUR ESTIMATE. If a roofer is willing to cheat the insurance company, then what do you think they would do with your home?

Storms with 1” in size is worth getting inspected by a roofer/person you trust.

If someone gets on your roof and does NOT show you evidence of their concern… that should be a red flag!
