Good news for Kent: crime fell for a second straight year in 2025. Commercial burglaries were down 60%, vehicle thefts down 59%, and the chief says the numbers are back to 2019 levels.

But down is not zero. Kent still averaged about four business burglaries, eleven vehicle thefts and eleven car prowls a week. We broke down what still happens, where, and what is actually worth securing at a Kent home or business. No fear, just the numbers.

A Tacoma homeowner near Ruston called us because their Lumen fiber "was struggling." The fiber was fine. The Wi-Fi was the problem: one box on a shelf trying to cover a whole house.

We pulled new Cat6 through the attic, ran a tidy ceiling raceway where we could not get above, and installed three Wi-Fi 7 access points on a multi-gig network, all in a locked wall rack that closes into the built-in shelving. Now the full 2 gig reaches every corner of the house.

They also want a smart home, so we started them on Control4 with the Halo Touch remote. The network is ready for whatever comes next.

Seattle stopped answering alarms two years ago. 🚨
Since October 1, 2024, Seattle Police respond to a burglar alarm only when it comes with evidence: video, audio, a panic button or an eyewitness. A motion sensor going off isn't enough.

Tacoma has its own verification rule. Pierce County has another. And Washington has the fewest officers per resident in the country.

So what does your alarm send when it goes off? A signal, a photo, or live video someone is actually watching? Here's what each rule asks for, and what works now 👇

Here's a detail most gate installs skip: how do you get out?

Usually it's a free-exit loop or a plain pushbutton anyone can press. On this project we did it right — an Ajax outdoor keypad set up as an exit device, integrated with Control4. The gate only releases with a code, so a wandering visitor (or a clever kid) can't just hit a button and let themselves out, and every exit is time-stamped in the system.

Wireless, weatherproof, tamper-protected — and it looks like it belongs on the property.
