Welch Tile Michigan based Tile contractor. Certified Tile Installers. NTCA 5-Star Contractor Founded in 1987, Richard Welch Sr. recognized an industry in change.

As a master tile, stone and terrazzo mechanic, Richard founded Welch Tile and Marble Company on the simple principle of commitment to excellence and installing timeless beauty. Last week the National Tile Contractors Association was in town, and we were fortunate to spend some time with them at Louisville Tile Distributors, Inc. In Grand Rapids! We encourage members of our apprentice group to get involved, attend training and education events when possible and meet others in the tile industry. Networking and relationship building is an important part of learning and growing in the trades.

We were honored to have LATICRETE International, Inc. lead our apprentice class last week! Thank you, Dave, for joining us. From start to finish we all learned a lot, some new items and great questions from our apprentices. Qualifying a Substrate, selecting the right grout, hands on training with multiple grouts, conversations surrounding the TCNA handbook, and how the tile industry truly can be a career - it was a wonderful morning of connection and learning. Happy to have some of our foreman join in as well. Always an opportunity to learn (even after 25+ years in the trade!)

Oh, and breakfast and some new hats for our team!

Now that we’ve had the chance to miss him 😉, we want to take some time to show our appreciation and say congratulations to Steve Coates on his retirement!

Steve spent 45 years in the construction industry, and we are so thankful that he chose to spend his last nearly 12 years with us at Welch Tile. We are overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for his dedication over the years and we wish him nothing but the best as he moves on to this next chapter. Thank you, Steve! 👏🏼
