I’ve been doing this for twenty years and the thing that is hardest for people to see is how much the mortar they choose will dictate how their stone looks. Same rock in this split image, but two completely different installations!

The old world masonry look is biggest trend I see in North Texas these days. And this house did it jawing a Saw cut stone. Usually done with chopped, using the saw cut allows for a little more transitional look even when mixed with the older style of mortar install.

My own patio transformation. Using the same type of stone as front of house, I added a new twist by using it ledge strip form. Added the ventless fireplace and the small grill area. Removed the column and it’s a wonderful addition to our older home!
