From “I have an idea” to “let’s make it happen,” there’s a lot that happens in between! Bringing a project to life can feel overwhelming, but Kearney has built a planning process that helps people through the steps from idea to development. It’s one of the many things that helps our community continue to grow.

There couldn’t be a more fitting day to open these doors. On August 20, 1964, the Economic Opportunity Act was signed into law, helping launch Community Action programs across the country. Sixty-two years later, Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska celebrated that legacy with the ribbon cutting of its new Early Head Start facility in Kearney.

After years of serving families from a rented space, the new facility was designed specifically for the program and the children it serves. We’re proud to have been part of this next chapter for Community Action and the Kearney families they serve.

After years of planning, collaborations, and three bond attempts, Humphrey Public Schools officially broke ground on its new Junior/Senior High School! Getting to this moment took a lot of persistence and a community that continued to show up for its school and its future. “We come and go, but the land is always here.” Willa Cather

Those words, alongside landscapes painted by Jeni Homan, owner Steve Homan's wife, offer a glimpse into the thought and purpose behind the new Edward Jones office in Kearney. From day one, Steve's goal was for this to be more than an office building. With a high-performance building envelope and daylight harvesting to locally sourced, low-embodied carbon materials and a site designed to work with the prairie, each decision has been made with sustainability in mind.

Steve hopes the result will and show what's possible for future Edward Jones offices. Sustainable design isn't just about efficiency. It's also about honoring the land you build on.
