🌵🌳 South Texas Trees Are Struggling — See the Drought Severity Below! 🌳🌵
Right now much of South Texas is experiencing severe to extreme drought conditions, with limited meaningful rainfall so far this year in what are typically our wetter months.
These dry conditions make it hard for trees to stay healthy.
🟢 Winter and spring moisture matters. During the rainy winter and spring months, trees focus on:
• Building strong root systems deep in the soil
• Storing carbohydrates and nutrients
• Preparing to handle heat and dry spells later in the year
But when those recharge months stay dry, trees start summer and fall with depleted reserves, leaving them more vulnerable to stress.
Right now in South Texas we’re seeing:
• Leaf scorch & early leaf drop
• Thin or sparse canopies
• Increased insect pressure
• Branch dieback
That’s your trees using up energy just to survive.
💧 What you can do:
➡️ Water deeply and slowly at the drip line — soak the soil 8–12″ deep.
➡️ Avoid frequent light watering that only wets surface soil.
➡️ Properly mulching your trees
