Nobody plans to coat their garage floor twice.

On a recent MACH ONE project, a two-car garage had been resurfaced with DIY store-bought epoxy products. Over the years, the floor peeled up significantly.

If you're getting quotes on a floor that's already been coated once, ask what the contractor plans to do about the old coating before they price the new one. The answer tells you a lot about how the job will go.

Not sure what's on your floor? Schedule your consultation at mach1epoxy.com and we'll help you plan the best way forward.

Before: A bare garage slab with nothing between the concrete and the moisture that naturally works its way up from below.

After: A moisture barrier laid down first, then a Cabin Fever flake system and a polyaspartic top coat, installed by the MACH ONE crew.

The barrier is the part that never shows up in an after photo, but it's the reason the coating on top of it won't bubble or peel the way it can without one. Skip that step, and the finish is only as good as the slab's ability to stay dry underneath.

Nothing like meeting another Army veteran and immediately realizing you’ve found someone who understands the stories, the duty stations, and the questionable decisions that somehow became “great memories.” 😂🇺🇸

We spent some time comparing experiences, swapping stories, and figuring out who had the worse duty location.

Oh—and somewhere in between all the storytelling, we actually got some epoxy work done on his garage floor. 😂

Veterans supporting veterans, one garage floor at a time.

🚗 Winter Salt Can Do More Damage Than You Think

This garage had significant concrete damage caused by something many homeowners don’t think twice about: road salt. 🧂

During the winter, salt and deicing chemicals get tracked into garages on vehicles and tires. As they mix with moisture, they can pe*****te the concrete and contribute to surface deterioration, cracking, and spalling. Freeze-and-thaw cycles can make the damage even worse.

That’s why proper surface preparation is one of the most important parts of any coating project.

Before applying a coating, we mechanically prepare the concrete to remove damaged material, contaminants, and anything that could prevent the coating from properly bonding. We also address cracks and surface imperfections as part of the preparation process.

A great-looking floor starts with what happens underneath the coating.

At Mach One Epoxy Flooring, we don’t just cover the problem—we prepare the concrete so the coating has the best possible foundation for long-term performance.

💪 Proper prep. Proper bond. Proper results.

These new homeowners in Norfolk, Virginia were looking for ways to make their house feel more like 'them.' The MACH ONE crew installed a full epoxy flake system in a 1/4-inch Mushroom flake blend across the two-car garage, plus a concrete coating on the stem walls providing added protection.

Same square footage, completely different floor to drive into every day.

Preparation is the foundation of every successful project. No matter how big the basketball court, the process always starts with the details.

We’re excited for the opportunity to collaborate with Troy Vannocker and work alongside our sister company to transform this court into something exceptional.

The prep work is underway, and we can’t wait to show you the finished result. Stay tuned!

Concrete slabs release moisture from underneath long after they're poured, and that moisture can make epoxy coatings fail if you don't prepare for it.

The MACH ONE crew started this garage floor project with a moisture v***r barrier, then installed a 1/4-inch Feather Gray flake blend and a polyaspartic top coat.

The barrier is one version of prep that never shows up in the after photos and often matters the most.

If your garage floor has ever bubbled or peeled, ask whether a v***r barrier was part of the original install.

Before: Bare concrete with moisture working its way up from underneath, the kind of thing that ruins a finished basement over time.

After: a basement floor built to handle moisture instead of fighting it, finished bright enough to double as living space instead of just storage.

The MACH ONE crew installed a moisture v***r barrier rated for up to 15 pounds of v***r pressure, then finished the floor with a 1/4 inch Tidal Wave flake blend under a polyaspartic clear coat.

Casemate Museum sits inside a fort at Fort Monroe, Virginia, and its exhibit rooms see a steady stream of visitors year round. Old concrete under that kind of traffic gets slick, stained, and hard to keep looking presentable.

The MACH ONE crew handled 1,100 square feet there recently, prepping the surface thoroughly before installing an epoxy flake floor in a 1/4 inch Stoney Creek blend, chosen for slip resistance and a look that wouldn't feel out of place next to museum exhibits.

Historic buildings don't get a pass on safety just because the walls are old. A flooring system still has to hold up to foot traffic and look right doing it.
