The World Cup may have moved on, but the excitement it brought to Kansas City will leave a lasting mark.
 
To celebrate Kansas City’s moment on the world stage, we created a series of scarves inspired by the places that make this city so special. Drawing from the visual language of traditional soccer scarves, the collection captures the energy, pride, and excitement of the 2026 World Cup while celebrating the architecture and public spaces that shape Kansas City’s identity.
 
Designed by BNIM Graphic Designer Olivia Krueger, the collection features scarves inspired by six iconic Kansas City destinations: the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, the KC Streetcar, One Kansas City Place, the Power & Light Building, and Union Station. Each scarf commemorates Kansas City’s role as a 2026 World Cup host city and reflects BNIM’s commitment to creating places that strengthen the city’s civic, cultural, and public identity for residents and visitors alike.

The family of Tom Nelson and BNIM are saddened to share that Tom left the physical world he so dearly loved, and committed his life to making better, on Tuesday, June 30. First and foremost, deeply committed to his family and friends, Tom was a founder and leader of Berkebile Nelson Immenschuh McDowell [BNIM], where he enjoyed extraordinary success as a designer of important buildings and as a planner involved in the foundational work that led to the renaissance of Kansas City we see today.

We’re thrilled to share that BNIM has been selected by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and WEISS/MANFREDI to serve as Architect of Record for the museum’s transformative expansion and renovation project.

BNIM will support WEISS/MANFREDI's vision for “A Connected Tapestry” design that unites architecture, landscape, and community. Their design will help create a place of inspiration, discovery, learning, and connection, providing new opportunities for art experiences and community engagement.
