We wrapped up this rustic stained concrete basement for our friends Ben & Delaina this week, and we’re loving how it turned out! This one definitely took some work. We had to remove old thinset, floor paint, and carpet adhesive—much of it by hand—before running our 16” Lavina grinder to smooth and properly prepare the slab.

The finished floor has a beautiful, rich molasses-brown tone with natural mottling that gives it an authentic, timeworn concrete look full of depth and character. We used Direct Colors ColorWave Stain in Molasses, followed by two coats of AquaSeal Satin, which really brought the warm brown tones to life while providing lasting protection. This color exceeded our expectations, and we have a feeling it’ll be making plenty more appearances on future projects. 🤎💎

✨ Custom Copper Floor at the Lake ✨

When our buddy Joel Stubenrauch reached out about coating the floor at his lake house, we knew we wanted to create something that was uniquely him.

Joel owns a company that works extensively with copper, so instead of a traditional flake blend, we decided to incorporate real copper flakes into the floor coating system. It was something we had never done before, but the opportunity to create a truly one-of-a-kind floor was too good to pass up.

The end result? A custom floor that perfectly matches the space, complements the home’s finishes, and reflects Joel’s personality and business. The copper catches the light beautifully and gives the floor a look you simply won’t find anywhere else.

We love pushing the boundaries and creating custom solutions for our clients, and this project is a perfect example of that.

Man this iridescent flake was no joke haha!! One of the floors took 5 top coats and the other 2. Lot of work but it’s a pretty crazy look for an amazing place like Rainbow Slime Co! Still a few things to button up but it looks great! Rainbow Slime Co. 💎🌈
