A great mowing safety reminder from Children's Mercy Hospital. Be safe when mowing and be aware of your surroundings.
As of June 2, we have already treated seven lawn mower-related injuries this spring - matching the total number of cases for the entire year of 2014 - so we're asking your help to share this important information for parents about lawn mower safety.
Common mower accidents occur when an operator backs up and collides with a child who is too close, or a mower hits a stone, stick or other object, turning it into a projectile. “And the tragedy is that these injuries are 100 percent preventable,” said Dale Jarka, MD, Orthopaedic Surgery.
