We drive electric vehicles that are charged in our solar-powered garage. Since 1950, Gunter has eliminated millions of bugs, termites, and other undesirable creatures from the Greater Kansas City Area. In 2008, Gunter added Lawn Care to their portfolio of services.

Nothing is more frustrating than reaching a robot or remote call center when you’re trying to get an answer to your question and hoping to talk to a local! Wondering when to schedule an aeration treatment? NOW is the time! If you’re hoping for a greener, thicker lawn next springs now is the time to schedule aeration and overseeding.

We have a short window in KC to not only schedule aeration treatments (because our spots fill out every year!). But also for the treatments. Temps must be cool enough for new grass seed to establish before winter, giving your lawn a head start before spring.

Aeration relieves compacted soil so air, water and nutrients can reach the roots. When paired with our premium tall fescue grass seeds it helps create a thicker, greener healthier lawn you’ll be proud to show off in 2027!

Yayy! After a few years of dormancy/leaving our office hive, the bumblebees made their way back! They’ve been so happily buzzing around lately and it makes us very excited.

we installed the beehive in the front yard of our Waldo office in 2020 as part of our new “Go Gunter Go Green” initiative. Additionally, we transitioned into a mostly all electric and hybrid vehicle fleet, solar panels (that charge our vehicles) on our fleet garage + offices, a paperless operating system and natural + no chemical treatment options. In all outdoor treatments, we take special/serious care to avoid all flowering vegetation to protect bee populations.

In our front yard we also planted pollinator plants to keep our bees happy!

Happy birthday to our past (3rd gen) president and team member of 50+ years!!! Technically, Jay started “working” at Gunter as early as 8 years old when he’d ride on pest control routes for fun to spend time with his grandpa (our founder) Reggie Gunter. Those days were so special to him that it planted a seed - he knew he’d want to take over his grandpas business one day when he was old enough. Sure enough, he studied Entomology (insects) and gained a degree in business from Mizzou to prepare…

Over the years, Jay carried on the family legacy just as he hoped for and ran the business with his dad Norman after his grandpa passed, eventually becoming president in 2000 and semi retiring when his son Noah became the 4th gen president in 2020.

Over the years, Jay became known nationally in our industry as a trusted leader and expert, and recognized by our internal team as a friend and kind leader - always willing to lend a hand. Outside of work, Jay has been happily married to his wife Pam for almost 45 years, dad of two and grandpa of 4. He loves to travel all over the world, is an avid golfer and has been in a bowling league for 60+ years (+annual turkey bowl) with his kindergarten friends.

Jay Gunter Besheer (our past 3rd generation president and current majority owner) remembers the days of riding on pest control routes as a kid with his grandpa (our founder, Reggie Gunter) 💚 in the late 1950s and 60s. #, pest control wasn’t just about eliminating bugs—it was about building relationships that lasted for generations.
