Our newest (and fluffiest) team member came to us through Pawportunities, a local rescue that gives dogs a second chance at a forever home. Now she spends her days greeting employees, supervising meetings and making sure no one takes work too seriously. 😄

Over one weekend in late July, coordinated cyberattacks hit more than 30 municipal water systems across Minnesota. In Braham, a town of 1,700, attackers disabled the controls at the city's well and treatment plant. The only thing between residents and a service interruption was the water sitting in the town's tower.

This wasn't a sophisticated zero-day attack. It was an exposed controller, an unmanaged cellular modem, a default password, and a physical switch that was never locked down — four different disciplines, four different owners, and nobody looking at the whole picture.

That's the part we keep coming back to: physical security, cybersecurity, operational technology, and process don't average out. Excellence in three doesn't make up for a gap in the fourth. Adversaries don't attack your strongest pillar — they walk around it.

If you operate critical infrastructure, or your organization depends on operational technology to function, ask yourself: who owns the whole house of cards? If the answer is nobody, or four people who've never compared notes, that's worth fixing before someone else finds the weak card for you.

For most of the last decade, AI in security meant a smarter alert. A camera got better at telling a person from a shadow, then handed the decision to a human. That handoff is what's changing in 2026. Agentic AI doesn't just detect - it acts. It can lock down access points, escalate an incident, or dispatch a drone, all without a person in the loop.

The capability is real and the momentum behind it is real. But before any agent acts on your facility, we think every security leader should be able to answer four questions:

1. What can it do on its own, and what needs human approval?
2. What record exists of what it saw, decided, and why?
3. Who can override it, and how fast?
4. How is the agent itself protected from bad data or bad instructions?

If a vendor can't answer those cleanly, the product isn't ready for your environment — no matter how good the demo looks.

When Mike Kaye's flight got canceled at midnight, hotel rooms were going for $500-700 a night. Instead, he found a rental car, settled in for a few hours... and woke up to elk. Yes, actual elk. Turns out he'd parked overnight at Busse Forest Elk Pasture in Chicago! 🦌
