Kansas City Friends! Hail Storm Info:

Some areas around KC just got hit with large hail (I’m hearing up to 3 inches in some places). If your neighborhood was in the path, it may be a good idea to take a quick look at your roof, gutters, siding, and vehicles for damage.

As a local contractor, I’m always happy to help homeowners understand the insurance claim process if they have questions. No pressure—just advice.

One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that many newer homeowner’s insurance policies now have percentage deductibles instead of flat deductibles.

For example:
A 2% deductible on a $400,000 home = $8,000 out of pocket.

In some situations it may not make financial sense to file a claim, depending on the level of damage. Every situation is different, and it’s something homeowners should understand before filing.
