We recently completed a custom sheet metal project featuring a dual downspout adaptor designed to collect and direct water into the building’s ground-water drainage system.

Fabricated in-house, the adaptor provides a clean, durable connection for two downspouts while transitioning the water into a single underground outlet. Projects like this are a great example of our team’s ability to take a specific jobsite need and fabricate a solution to fit it.

We’re proud to showcase our work on the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, Pediatric Wing!

For this project, SSM provided a range of custom-fabricated exterior metalwork, including:

• Aluminum perforated panels at the garage level
• Mechanical screens and supporting structure
• Custom-made wood grain plank panels
• Custom-made ACM panels
• Flashing & coping

From detailed fabrication to installation, our team brought a variety of materials and custom solutions together to help bring this project to life.

Expanding our facility and investing in what's next. 🏗️

We're currently underway with two major improvements to our facility: constructing a new customer entrance for Shipping & Receiving and leveling the west well to create additional production space.

These upgrades will improve accessibility, streamline our shipping and receiving operations, and give us the additional capacity needed to continue growing production.

We're excited to keep building for the future!

Fred & Jami Pryor Serenity Garden Gate 🌿

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City have three buildings available for families in need. Between the buildings, a vest pocket park was created to provide a quiet place for children and their families to go to get outdoors.

The Charity partnered with Vireo to develop concepts for this Serenity Garden to develop a place that will become the heart of the campus. Working as a team, the Charity and Vireo’s design team envisioned a garden that would bring: hope, comfort, renewal, & nature to families with sick children.

While staying at Ronald McDonald Houses, families can utilize the Serenity Garden as they begin their journey. Featuring a series of spaces designed to express the themes of: “Love, family, strength, peace, hope, courage & joy.”

It is these words that line the interior form of the aluminum gate SSM was honored to produce for the garden. The “Moon Gate” feature was designed by Hufft, and it frames the entry way into the park.

Creating an inner structure for strength, SSM laser cut & rolled aluminum plate to clad the shape of the gateway to Serenity Garden.

Designed by Hufft and built alongside MegaKC as the General Contractor, this project was a privilege for SSM to be a part of. We're grateful for the opportunity to help bring this meaningful space to life.

Here is a custom roof curb from a recent project!

This hybrid roof curb is mounted for an R-Panel roof and features a standing seam curb cap to give the customer access to equipment inside the building.

A simple solution and a great example of adapting a system to fit the customer's needs.

Our Saviour Lutheran Church ⛪

Known for the beautiful stained-glass window visible from Rainbow Boulevard, Our Saviour Lutheran is also called “the bread church” due to the commitment to their food pantry ministry. Because the church is already a beacon to the community, the design team at BNIM may have used that thought in the creation of a new lantern feature during their remodeling efforts.

Using an existing stair tower form, the design team elevated that feature, turning it into a lantern or beacon for the community.

SSM used just over a thousand square feet of custom perforated, 3/16″ thick aluminum plate to clad the tower. The panels are painted white, roughly 4′ x 8′ in size and continue around the tower, extending above it.

Down low, the panels are solids, with a brick pattern being perforated into the panels. The pattern is derived from the brick work on the existing tower and is expressed as perforations. The pattern then reverses as the panels are perforated and the brick pattern becomes a solid shape.

Continuing the remodel to the entry, almost 650 square feet of bent plate, louver fins create a new canopy structure. Painted to match the tower panels, the new canopy extends the entry feature out over the landscaping, tying it all together.
