This exciting achievement opens the door to expanded resources, meaningful connections, and new opportunities for the individuals that Shelter KC serves. At Forge Construction, we believe what we build should make a lasting impact. Everything we build, from people, to partnerships, to projects, are Built To Endure.

Beyond the physical build, this project creates a refuge where individuals are seen, valued, and reminded that there is hope for all who enter here. Happy 1-Year Anniversary, Jason Burke!

As Project Executive leading Forge’s Special Projects Division, Jason supports business development, estimating, and project management while helping build strong projects and partnerships.

What Jason enjoys most about Forge is the people. “I get to work every day with the great Associates at Forge and be involved with the great partnerships we’ve developed.”

Over the past year, one accomplishment that stands out was jumping in alongside the Forge project team to help finish strong on the FAA project. That commitment reflects the Guiding Principle that resonates most with Jason: FORGE EXCELLENCE.

“I believe in doing things the right way. The details are what matter most. If you strive for perfection in everything you do, the end result will be excellence.”

Outside of Forge, Jason values time spent with his wife, Katie, and their two children, Jack and Peyton. Some of his favorite moments are simply being there for his kids, whether cheering on Peyton at softball and basketball games or watching Jack compete on the golf course. When they’re not at a game or tournament, the Burke family enjoys traveling together, especially trips to the beach, and making the most of their time together.

We’re grateful for the leadership, commitment, and pursuit of excellence Jason brings to Forge and look forward to many more milestones ahead!

A topping out marks an exciting moment in construction. The structure has reached its highest point, bringing the building one step closer to being enclosed and beginning to truly take shape.

At Brookside Charter School, this milestone means even more when you hear from the students who will soon walk these halls.

“You’re building this for me.”

Those words are a simple reminder of what this project is all about. Behind every beam placed and milestone reached is an opportunity to create a space where students can learn, grow, and experience what’s possible.

As the new Primary School and Expanded Pre-K facility continues to take shape, delivering a unique experience means making the journey just as meaningful as the finished space and giving the students, staff, project partners, and Brookside community the opportunity to be part of it along the way.

The building is taking shape. Their future is, too.

In our latest conversation around su***de prevention and mental health, Forge Construction sits down with David Kissick of Kissick Construction to talk about creating an environment where people feel supported from day one.

In our industry, the people we work along side can become more than coworkers. There are days, weeks, and even months when we may spend more time with our “work family” than with our families at home. That makes it even more important to build a culture where our people know they are valued, supported, and never expected to navigate the hard days alone.

That starts with leadership - setting the tone, providing resources, and equipping our people to approach conversations that aren’t always easy. Because stress is normal. Hard days are normal. But going through them alone shouldn’t be.

Resources like ConstructionMinds can help teams better understand mental health and navigate tough conversations. We don’t have to have all the answers. We can listen, advocate for our people, and know where to turn when additional support is needed.

Taking care of our people is more than being there when something is wrong. It’s about consistently showing up for one another and building relationships that make the hard conversations a little easier to start.

This week, we’re continuing the conversation around su***de prevention and mental health within the AEC industry with Dennis Burns from Pulse Design Group.

Sometimes supporting the people around us starts with something incredibly simple: “Are you okay?”

But asking that question takes more than good intentions. It takes honesty, trust, and caring enough to have conversations that may not always be comfortable.

As leaders, coworkers, and industry partners, we have an opportunity to create environments where checking in on one another becomes part of how we work together. That means mentoring and advocating for our people by giving them the resources, tools, and confidence to recognize when someone may need support, and reminding them that it’s okay to ask the question.

Strong relationships are built through trust, genuine connection, and showing up for the people around us. When we invest in those relationships, we build a stronger community where people feel seen, supported, and know someone is willing to listen and help.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes, you just have to care enough to ask.

Be honest. Check in. Ask the question. One conversation can save a life.

This week, Forge Construction sits down with DeWayne Ables, with Pioneer IQ, to talk about what it means to lead with awareness, advocate for our people, and recognize that some of the most important things we manage are the things we cannot always see.

In our industry, we’re accustomed to managing the unknown; anticipating challenges, asking questions, proactive communication, and looking out for what could impact the people and projects entrusted to us. That same mindset should extend to how we lead our teams.

We may not know what someone is carrying outside of work, and we may not recognize every sign that someone is struggling. But advocacy doesn’t require us to have all the answers. Sometimes, it can be as simple as sending a text, starting a conversation, and genuinely asking, “What’s going on in your life, and how can I help or support you?”

It’s about being present, paying attention, building trust, and creating a culture where people know they have someone in their corner from day one.
Because taking care of our people shouldn’t begin when there is a crisis. It should be built into how we lead, how we listen, and how we show up for one another every day.

Lead with Awareness. Advocate for your people. A conversation can save a life.
